According to media outlet reports on June 20 KST, MBC's 'Idol Star Athletics Championship' will be making its return this year for the first time in 2 years.
The variety show is expected to air in time for the Chuseok holidays in September, with its recording scheduled to take place some time in August. It's rumored that this year's event will feature the following sporting categories: futsal, team relay race, and golf.
Meanwhile, the 'Idol Star Athletics Championship' has aired on MBC since 2010 during South Korea's annual Chuseok and Lunar New Year celebrations. However, the program has been wrapped up in various controversies over the years, including mistreatment of the idol contestants, mistreatment of fans, and frequent injuries suffered by the idols from practice.
