YouTuber Sojang's millions of assets frozen by prosecutors

YouTuber Sojang's millions of assets have been frozen by prosecutors.

According to reports on May 24, the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office revealed the court accepted the prosecutors' request to partially seize Sojang's assets. YouTuber Sojang, last name Park, was previously indicted on the charges of defamation and malicious comments against 7 Korean celebrities, particularly IVE's Wonyoung.

Park's seized assets total almost 200 million won ($146,337.89 USD), including real estate and deposit bonds. The reasoning behind the seizure is to prevent Sojang from possibly fleeing before her sentence hearing. 

Earlier on May 14, Park was indicted for defaming 7 Korean celebrities on her YouTube channel between 2022 and 2024, between which she earned nearly 250 million won ($182,922.37 USD). She was also ordered to pay 100 million won to Wonyoung after losing a civil suit.
