DJ Yesong has been revealed as the former idol who killed a man in a DUI accident.
According to reports, the 23-year-old DJ was driving under the influence of alcohol in her Mercedes-Benz vehicle in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul at around 4:35AM on February 3 KST when she hit a motorcyclist from behind. The motorcyclist, who was a delivery driver in his 50s, was thrown off his bike 100 meters and died from his injuries.
At the time of her arrest, DJ Yesong's blood alcohol level concentration is known to have exceeded the level of license cancellation. The senior judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Central District Court issued an arrest warrant the same day as he deemed DJ Yesong a flight risk, which means he judged she could attempt to flee.
On February 5, DJ Yesong apologized for the crime through her mother while currently in jail. She expressed, "I know there's nothing I can do that relieves me of the crime. I will carry the pain I caused the victim and his family for the rest of my life." When pressed as to why she didn't help the victim after the accident took place, DJ Yesong said, "After the accident, I couldn't see the victim, and I wasn't aware that I hit someone. A lot of people were around my car, so I got out. My dog started barking afterwards, and I was told by someone on the scene to hold my dog, so I held it."
DJ Yesong debuted as a member of INSTAR in 2019 and has been highly active as a DJ in China.
