Actress Han Hyo Joo's label BH Entertainment has denied tax evasion allegations made against the star.
On June 13, BH Entertainment stated, "Han Hyo Joo underwent a regular tax audit and not a special tax audit. There were no substantial issues, omissions, or any aspects raising suspicions of tax evasion. In the process of investigation, a difference in the interpretation of what is subject to taxes resulted in accounting errors. A part of the recognized costs meant she had to pay additional charges."
The label continued, "The company and Han Hyo Joo have dutifully paid taxes until now. In particular, Han Hyo Joo served as the ambassador for the National Tax Service in 2011, and she also paid her taxes dutifully to the extent she received a commendation from the president for being an exemplary taxpayer in 2014. There has not once been an unpleasant incident regarding taxes."
Previously, reports stated Han Hyo Joo had to pay additional taxes of 70 million KRW (~ $55,000 USD) after being audited by the National Tax Service of Korea.
In other news, Han Hyo Joo is starring in the upcoming Disney+ series 'Moving'.
