Actor Yoo Ah In requests a postponement of his police questioning date, citing his right to a private questioning

AKP STAFF

On March 23 KST, actor Yoo Ah In's legal representative, 'INFINITI Korea', revealed that the actor has requested to postpone his police questioning, initially scheduled for March 24.

The law firm stated, "Our client Uhm Hong Sik (Yoo Ah In), current under investigation for violating the Narcotics Control Act, previously received a summons from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Narcotics Crime Investigation Division to attend a questioning this Friday, March 24. The police summon assured that the client would be summoned privately, but notwithstanding any wording of the notice, a suspect is guaranteed the right to a private questioning per existing 'Rules on Public Information on Police Investigations'."

Yoo Ah In's legal rep continued, "However, as the public is well aware, the information that Uhm Hong Sik would be appearing for a police questioning this Friday was made public through various media outlet reports, and some of these reports further alleged that representatives of the police confirmed the date with reporters. As a result, Uhm Hong Sik's summoning is no longer private but widely public, a clear violation of existing regulations on police investigations. Therefore, the law firm faced little choice but to request a postponement of the questioning."

Finally, the firm emphasized, "Uhm Hong Sik had absolutely no intention of postponing his police questioning deliberately, and once a new questioning date has been confirmed, the client intends on offering his full and willing cooperation throughout the questioning process."

Yoo Ah In is currently facing charges of habitually abusing the illegal drug propofol since early 2021, as well as using other illegal drugs including marijuana, cocaine, and ketamine.

Not trying to defend him, but if the law dictates that everyone should be entitled to the private questioning, then he deserves fair questioning just as anyone else.
