The 2022 Genie Music Awards was held without a live broadcast in mourning of the Itaewon tragedy, and the award show was held at the Namdong Gymnasium in Incheon on November 8.
Many Korean artists were invited to the award ceremony to receive their awards, recognized for their achievements in the past year. Many artists were able to make the nomination list, but only a few were able to take home the award.
