The 64th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony was held in Las Vegas on April 3, 2022. BTS was confirmed to perform at the main ceremony on March 15, 2022.

It had been a dream of the septet to perform on the Grammy stage since 2018, and despite "Butter" not being their first televised Grammy performance, it was their first in-person solo stage. Without a doubt, there was a lot of effort and creativity put into the performance, and by the look of it, BTS's efforts paid off.

Rolling Stone, one of the biggest music magazines, ranked BTS's "Butter" #13 on their updated "The 25 Greatest Grammy Performances of All Time" list:

"One night in Vegas: BTS took the stage with the swagger of a James Bond squad of super-spies, in Rat Pack suits. Their big Grammy moment was long overdue—in the pandemic they had to beam in long-distance from Seoul, and in previous years they stole the show with just a few seconds of airtime. But they were on fire with confidence and charisma."
