BTS's Jin is pleasant and considerate in his latest interview for Weverse Magazine

Kim Seok Jin is glad that BTS is doing well, according to his response about staying on top of the Billboard Hot 100. Jin is someone who appreciates details and works very hard, so he takes some pleasure in enjoying life and has felt less pressured while making promotions and accepting awards online, due to the current situation.

Not as much overwhelmed with the results of "Butter" comparing to "Dynamite," Jin explained that he feels a lot better with himself, he could finally get used to his sometimes erratic schedule, and thanks to his routine, he is now healthier and can sleep a little bit more. It is impossible not to speak about his latest solo song, "Abyss," and the emotions he explained in them. Jin has previously talked about this piece as a way of releasing his dark emotions, how he wanted to open himself with the fans, and that RM has helped him to find the words. The interviewer then is curious to know about his feelings after releasing this song. Very thoughtful about his fans and how he wants them to see him, Jin expressed that he felt a kind of relief.

"Abyss" is that song with perhaps the darkest thoughts that anyone could have, but few can actually express it, and so the listener can feel the connection and identify itself with it. Jin also talks about him not knowing his own self very well and that at the time he wrote and worked on "Abyss," he was depressed. He compares his thoughts to being on a dark ocean, but at the end, there is the idea of himself getting out of there, walking on the beach again. Jin finally adds that he and the producers could reach a point where the song shouldn't be "pretty," but a way for Jin to go with his gut. "I prefer songs that convey emotion in a calm, straightforward manner, both when I sing and when I’m listening to music," he explains.

The goals of both "Butter" and "Abyss" are to send a straightforward message, according to Kang Myungseok. In response to "Butter," Jin said he is not afraid to show his love and the desire he has to sing these kinds of songs exclusively other than the chorus. "If you take out the chorus of this song, I thought I could do this song live pretty comfortably, no matter how hard the dance moves are," he says, between laughs. The high pitch notes that he did for "Butter" were also a great deal for himself since he thought about whether to put more or less power in his voice. He wanted to make his own part in the right way, and the fact that he is able to show off his extremely handsome face is a reason for him to be happy. Jin wants to show all of his hard work in performance as quickly as possible. He also thought that the performance director, Son Sung Deuk, was teasing him when he said that people were praising Kim Seok Jin's dancing abilities. He would find it hard at first to get the moves right, but the results are now seen and are all thanks to Son, and he is satisfied with it, as he would be even more satisfied with himself and the work he does for upcoming projects. "If I improve more, my favorite song will be whatever is newest, and then “Butter” might not be as satisfying to me anymore."

Jin talked about being a better dancer than he used to be. Now, he is able to work and refine more by himself, and what he is seeing he is doing wrong, without the staff giving him directions like in the old days. He mentions how happy he has been about this since Hobi (j-hope) told him that his dancing has really improved. With such a tight schedule due to "Butter" promotions and the online concert of "Muster Sowoozoo," Jin shared his feelings about practicing for "Permission To Dance" simultaneously with those two events, thinking about how having a little more time would have let him perform it even better and put more effort in it. He, later on, adds that he is not good at memorizing lyrics, and he practices it for at least 4 to 5 days to get the "hang of it" whenever a new song is coming out. And the preparation for his rap lines in both "Daechwita" and "Chicken Noodle Soup" took even more time than expected because of the regular day filled with work and the fact of him not rapping ever before for such a big event as the "Sowoozoo." But even though he admits being "terrible" at memorizing lyrics, he praises himself thanks to it: "My gift is my ability to enjoy practicing repeatedly."

Korean culture is about making productive your days, from the big and important things to those that aren't a big deal but still, you should constantly become good at it. Jin knows these kinds of lessons since his younger days, but he also admits to feeling satisfied whenever he is able to sleep, eat, watch some TV, play games or sleep again. It is important for people to have days like these, instead of improving hobbies they should take a real break. "Society is always seeking out the things that are useful. And that’s good, too, but for our own sake, I think we require time to find stability in our own minds, even if it looks useless in the eyes of others".

To bring back the pictures that Jin has posted on Weverse with producer Bang Si Hyuk, having a meal together, was also an interesting question that led Jin to talk about this memory with some details: He asked Bang PD to have a drink with him in a friendly way, and so Bang PD accepted it, but Jin couldn't make it due to his schedule, and actually, it seemed that he wasn't expecting for his boss to accept the invitation. Either way, Bang PD was willing to have that drink with him. According to Jin, Bang PD was the one to tell him that he would cook and buy wine, having such a nice meal. Before his debut days, Jin wouldn't feel comfortable like this around Bang PD, and so he wasn't very confident yet and was looking for a job while being a trainee. Things changed a lot, and so did Kim Seok Jin, and even he can comprehend that by looking back at his own self and telling himself to work hard instead of giving him the "keep your head up" advice. "If I gave my old self too much to think about, he might end up feeling exhausted after practice and give up."

The situation of the pandemic is still ongoing these days, but the hope of new days full of freedom is making an entrance. Jin recalls that his ambition of becoming better is due to ARMY and how he likes to see comments about his improvements on social media. Of course, he talked about pre-recording stuff long before the official release, so none of the members can go around posting their looks because it could lead to spoilers. This is the reason why he is even more eager to show the best of himself in BTS's performances, and it is a shame that the fans can't see him working this hard due to the current problem. As someone who is not cheesy and finds himself being cringe if he does so because it is not in his personality, Jin tells ARMY not to lose their laughter. It is the best way he expresses his emotions, by leaving funny pictures or comments. "But fans watch us as a hobby, you know? Hobbies are all about enjoying yourself and being able to laugh", he says, so that's why he wants them to see him happy and not exhausted. He hopes that anyone who likes him is happy, and he doesn't want them to see anything bad. That's the feeling he has toward his job.
