BTS’s V was the fans’ biggest support system in 2020 as he virtually accompanied them through the pandemic with several #StayAtHome challenges and more.

The year 2020 has been nothing short of a devastating tragedy for millions across the globe. As the world continues to slowly reel from the tribulations to the “new normal”, many are looking back at the pandemic counting the blessings that have gotten them through the dreadful year.

One such is the BTS ARMY, who have named the septet as their savior in 2020. In particular, member V is receiving a myriad of appreciation for initiating several challenges to entertain and motivate the fans during the lockdown.

Since the beginning of the year, V has been actively advising fans to be cautious and to stay indoors. He has left countless replies urging fans to adhere to the proper guidelines to minimize the spread of the virus.

Moreover, V has also taken time out of his busy schedule to communicate with the fans, to playing online games and giving career advice to list a few. He wrote to a fan in March: “I know our ARMY must be going through tough times because of the coronavirus, but after the promotions ended this was the only way I could think of to talk and do some healing.”

Aside from leaving sweet replies, V also kicked off multiple challenges that fans could take part in during their quarantines.

His first challenge was to simply mimic what was on the television. With an adorable video of him dancing in front of the TV, V took social media by storm garnering over two million likes in a record-setting time on Twitter. His post was even shared by Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and many celebrities, as well as non-fans took part in his fun yet simple #집콕챌린지 (#StayAtHomeChallenge).

V was also the mastermind behind the #꿈_챌린지 (#DreamChallenge) in which he requested the fans to draw what they wish to do once the pandemic is over. Korean News Channel: KBS recently reported that his challenge has transcended the fan-culture and is now being implemented in Kindergarten proving his undeniable impact.

Furthermore, in April, V initiated  #StayInYourRoomChallenge in which he requested fans to join him in an impromptu singing battle. Needless to say, hundreds of fans submitted videos of them singing in their rooms.

Another popular entry was #RM챌린지 (RM Challenge) through which the fans tweeted voice messages to celebrate the leader’s birthday in September. The BTS members also took part in the fun event.

In addition, through a handful of diverse contests, V even encouraged the fans to tap into their artistic sides during the lockdown. His #아미가치는클래식 (Classicals that ARMYs play) contest inspired fans to showcase their musical talents while #태형싸인만들기콘테스트 (Taehyung Signature Making Contest) motivated them to share their creativity and drawling skills.

V even took time to greet fans through several live streams this year, most notably, with many hour-long episodes of the fan-favorite “Tae Tae FM 06.13” series.

He also received a token of appreciation from Weverse for his near-perfect attendance in communicating with the fans throughout the year.

Despite the lockdown, 2020 has undoubtedly been one of the most packed years for the star. Along with filming for multiple variety shows, online concerts, and promotional activities, V also worked as the Visual Manager and one of the main songwriters, composers, and producers for BTS’s album BE. In addition to the groups’ activities, V also released a solo soundtrack and has revealed to be finishing up his first-ever solo mixtape. Regardless of his hectic schedule, V was notably the most active member of the group, constantly taking time out to make some memories with the fans.

In gratitude, fans have left thousands of messages for the star noting him as the “biggest blessing of 2020.” Many fans have also remarked that it is incredibly easy to tweet “wear a mask” but to actively put effort and time into not only encouraging fans to stay at home but making their quarantine life exciting is highly admirable and praiseworthy.

During the 2020 pandemic, V has once again proven why he is nicknamed as the “Creative Genius” and “ARMY’s best friend.” He truly shed light on the lives of his fans through several mediums giving them hope and joy in one of the darkest years in recent history.
