To be honest BTS happen to be at the right place at the right time where kpop in US was picking up momentum which helped push them to international fame because without the US market they would be just like any other group in Korea. But to the ungrateful fans who bandwagon on to BTS fame didn't know there were so many other kpop artist that paved the way to the US market. So many trial & error, time, and suffering they had to endure in the US market before US became more acceptable to foreign music. What do I know, I only listen to kpop since S.E.S.

It’s really baffling that BTS fans think they’re the first K-Pop group to be popular in the U.S. They really need to learn the history of the genre.

lmao bs

BTS became popular because of their great songs, not because the US suddenly liked K-Pop. For instance, the songs "I Need U" and "Run" (both released in 2015) sold over 600.000 copies in Korea, "Fire" (2016) sold over 800.000 copies in Korea. At the time those songs got released, BTS wasn't even known in the US to that extend like they are nowadays. It all happened with "DNA" and that song got released last year.

But I guess these facts don't fit your narrative.

this comment is funny. then you just say that h.o.t got lucky because they were one of the first. etc. it's all come down to good marketing with the right group of boys and the right songs for it's time. that is how people do business. why target BTS in this???

I would have included TVXQ instead of BTS. Or even Shinhwa, or Super Junior. BTS hasn't changed or added anything to the genre, unless you count "being successful." Most non-ARMYs can't even name one of their songs. It would be like adding Kim Kardashian to a list about fashion. It's pure trendy nonsense.

I love H.O.T but G.O.D needs to be on the list. They were the first group to be called nation's boy group - the title Big Bang has now.

Just a top5 of bg's is unfair since alot of important people are missing. Like Deux, Shinwha, Sechskies, and TVXQ

Truth. Not a lot of people know that g.o.d was the first Nation's Boy Group. H.O.T was akin to DBSK or Super Junior who had an enormous and passionate fan base but not as much public recognition w/ non-fans.

Huh? I don't see anything about the article being written about the biggest groups in KOREA. If you read again it's written like this: top 5 legendary boy groups in K-pop history (In history) nowhere is written only in Korea?

Also even if that's the case they were/are really popular too in Korea.

Fun fact: Kim Junsu was an inspiration to Seungri who dreamt about becoming a singer :)

ps: I also think Big Bang deserves their spot since a lot of idols look up to them and have done a lot of new things. #Love Big Bang too :D

TVXQ was nr1 in Korea since their debut and while being active together with Bigbang. Bigbang was considered nugu at that time and TVXQ's rival was SS501. not Bigbang. TVXQ was considered as the biggest group in history and many experts praised them for saving and improving the industry. When TVXQ's most popular members JYJ left TVXQ, TVXQ went down hill and other groups including Bigbang had a chance to shine. For the sales.. Till ~2008, only physical sales were a thing in Korea, not digitals and TVXQ>>>>BB in physicals

I haven't logged onto Allkpop in a while and I had to reset my PW just to put my two cents in on this debate. DBSK deserves to be on the list because they set the standard for male idol groups; DBSK is often cited as an inspiration/aspiration for most of the idols today. How many groups nowadays sing Acapella? It has become increasing rare these days the number of groups where ALL members can sing well. DBSK came at a time where the idol group concept wasn't well accepted by the public; sure there was Seo Tai Ji and the Boys, HOT, Shinhwa, GOD who were all popular in their own rights but DBSK upgraded the genre. Also they have paved the way in Japan and broke records of their own so I don't think we can forget their influence. There are groups that were popular within their time period whether its the first gen, second gen, third gen kpop groups but overall DBSK is LEGENDARY.

Sincerely,

Elder millennial Kpop fan who was alive before 1990

I'm going to list my top 5 and give my reasoning a bit. If you don't agree you can kindly explain your reasoning in a mature way.

1 H.O.T or Seo Taji-They we're one of the first and the beginning of K-pop

2 TVXQ- They revamped the industry when it was dying. They are the inspiration for many other idols, not to mention they helped break K-pop into other music markets.

3 Super Junior or Shinhwa- Super Junior was one of the first groups to utilize their large Latin fanbase. Their music are considered Staples of K-pop.

Shinhwa is a group with alot of weight to their name. First group to start their own label, not to mention the only group to still exist with their original lineup at 20+ years.

4 Big Bang- They are one of the most influential idols of all time. Not just in music, but also in fashion and helped inspire the next generation of idols we listen to.

5 BTS or EXO-This one is gonna get me hated on, but oh well. I say EXO due to the influence they have as a third gen group. They debuted with an innovative ideas and hold and break records to this day.

I also BTS for similar reasons. They came from a small company and are now one of the biggest and most recognizable groups of third gen. They helped continue to break K-pop into the western market along with breaking records.

They are the first group that got the National Idol title, also dubbed as the Nation's Nephew. They just make a comeback for their 20th anniversary on this 10 Jan, and their 2001 song titled "Road" topped the Instiz Chart at No. 3 for the 3rd week of January shortly after their anniversary comeback. Their last comeback was on 2014 during their 15th Anniversary and they won Song of The Year (May), Top 10 Artists and even nominated for Digital Bonsang all in the same year after almost 12 years of hiatus.

You do realize they do this every day and every year... in 2015 allkpop posts this list and EXO was on it. This year they find another list with BTS. It's getting old, they're just putting the "default" groups and then slapping on the trendy idol of the moment. Anyways, it's clear this is a list drafted up by Army's who have nothing better to do but try to boost their fragile ego. You're insane if you think EXO doesn't belong on the list. They literally REVIVED the physicals industry and brought public interest back into the idol groups. They've made history multiple times, are the only Korean artist of this millennia to sell 11 million physical albums. They were chosen to close South Korea's Winter Olympics. Accompanied the president to multiple times. Were named official ambassadors or South Korea's Tourism. Were given commemorative medals by the government. You ask anyone on the street, and EXO is the name of kpop's representative. They've led the 3rd generation of kpop... But of course, allkpop just publishes the articles who will get them the most retweets. Typical ;)

You know, people here think EXO doesn't matter because they don't write about them everyday. They could, but they don't. There are so many thinks that happened but nobody wrote about it here. So to people who are not following them think they're not so popular anymore. I wrote article about Suho the other day because no one else did and the amount of hate was ridiculous. So I'm kind of glad there not writing about them much.

I agree 100% with tvxq.. and I'm newly interested in BTS, but I've been following Kpop for a long time now. BTS belongs here to me in terms of changing expectations. They've made everyone else around them have to level up. Similar to all other legendary groups. The money they make allows for them to have amazing live shows, great stages.. and it's almost evolved Kpop into performance art. It's no longer just singing and dancing. Go watch their melon music awards stage from this past year. It's Amazing! I don't know how people can deny what's right in front of their faces. I'm not a army or anything, I try to be trendier.. but these guys kill it.

I honestly think this list should have been named something else. It's hard to pick only 5 groups when there are clearly more than 5 that have been impactful for kpop. Maybe top 10? Everyone listed in addition to Shinhwa, Sechkies, Super Junior, DBSK and EXO would have rounded this list out nicely.

seo taiji and the boys and bigbang are mandatory in this list. bigbang will forever be korea's boy group, their songs are famous amongst a wide range of ages and people. their are loved not only by their fanbase but by koreans as well.

TVXQ should replace BTS, their profits and sucess should be enough by now to put them in this list. BTS will have their time but for now they still havent caught up with the legends. Legends take time to build and i dont BTS is quite there yet.

I'll explain my reasons underneath...

1) Shinhwa

2) Big Bang

3) TVXQ

4) BTS

5) g.o.d

Even though H.O.T & Seo Taiji were the very beginning of Kpop, they were not active that long, only 5-6 years.

Shinhwa, the group in Kpop to do alot of things first. 1st group to comeback after Military, 1st group to have their members as solo artists, 1st group to use props in their dance choreography, 1st group to form their own conpany & many more. They are the longest active group in history - 21 years! They paved the way in Kpop to say that no matter what age you are, you can continue to do what you enjoy. They are also very humble, even after all these years. Every fan wants their fave to be like Shinhwa. From teenage kings of dance in SM, to legends of the Kpop industry. It takes YEARS to earn the name Legend or King.

Big Bang, they were the first group I ever listened to back in 2010. They just created a unique sound that elevated Kpop to a whole new level. They are arguably the most popular amongst all ages & gender. There is no weak link in the group, the members can stand by themselves and sell anything. A group considered to have some of the best vocalists & rappers. I think their comeback from Military will be MASSIVE!!!!!

TVXQ, the most complete group ever? Most fans are still upset about the group not having all 5 members - even after all these years! Lots of idols cover their classic songs, they also have alot of popularity in Japan. They had a big hole to fill when Shinhwa left SM, and TVXQ took it with both hands. Kpop changed when TVXQ came along...

BTS, from a small company and rising at a time when there was SO MANY groups trying to stand out. I always thought that B.A.P would be the HipHop group to take the western world by storm, but when they were inactive in 2014, BTS gained their biggest popularity at that time - and they have never looked back. They'll be around for a long time hopefully, performing and creating their much loved music. I just hope their current fame in the western world won't just be labelled as the 'latest craze'. To me BTS are not just idols, they are artists.

g.o.d, they had the highest physical sales by any Kpop group, at a time when the Korean market was lacking money. Their album records came before the digital era and the internet!! which is such a massive accomplishment, even more. They are still active, but their members do mostly solo projects now.

Other male groups of mention:

Super Junior / Beast / EXO / SHINee

Share

2

L_catzzz 25 days ago 0

g.o.d may have the highest physical sales, but they also won Song of The Year (May) and Top 10 Artists and even nominated for Digital Bonsang on their 15th Anniversary after almost 12 years of hiatus. And now even their 2001 old song were topping Instiz Chart due to their recent 20th Anniversary comeback without any Mvs whatsoever.

Well it’s true that TVXQ/DBSK was doing so much better than BIGBANG in the beginning, no one can’t deny that DB5K is still the best lineup. We can hate YG all we want with all his stupid antics these past couple of years but yeah, BIGBANG is now king with them managing to have a complete line up for more than a decade which Seo Taiji & Boys, H.O.T., Sechskies, g.o.d (they used to perform as 4 for a time), TVXQ, SuJu, and even EXO couldn’t do. Them being complete with each member managing to top charts individually despite them getting into so much trouble is a freakin’ miracle. They deserve to be on the list. Those saying they don’t deserve it are insane.

P.S. SM needs to pay those unpaid ex SM artists that can’t even promote on Korean shows. Yes, JYJ, ex-SuJu, and ex-Exo members. I love SM artists but the company itself are making us delusional by making us think everything is alright. It isn’t okay? God bless their current artists and their trainees.

In my opinion : Seo Taji & Boys, BTS (your gonna say I’m bias but did any other group accomplish what BTS accomplished????), h.o.t, g.o.d, BigBang, TVXQ, and others.

1. Sep Taiji and the boys- created modern kpop

2. HOT- created the kpop idol group formula

3. TVXQ- first kpop group to break into the japanese market, helped start the fight against slave contracts

4. Big bang- one of the main groups that brought kpop to the west, helped change the sound of kpop

5. EXO- "nation's pick", was the bridge from the 2nd gen to the third gen, brought back millions of album sales

So many other groups have accomplished amazing things. I mean you could even break it down by biggest groups by region.

I love many of these groups, but I honestly feel like they should do a top 10, with the older groups being in the top 5. For people who maybe haven't followed K-pop as long, I know they won't know some of the older groups as well, but those groups paved the way for EVERYTHING we have now, and fans (especially K-netizens) still know their songs. Hell, people still do special stages for them in newer groups. That being said, it is unacceptable for some groups who paved the way and had ridiculous sales to NOT be on this list. TVXQ and Super Junior are both great examples of this. Furthermore, if you're going to have a newer group like BTS on the list (and I mean newer in reference to the older groups) then you CANNOT deny a group like EXO to be on the list as well- I love both groups, and each has made and continues to make a huge mark in the industry. So honestly, they need to make a Top 10, and then people can debate all day long who should have the highest slots.

Honestly I'm not against BTS being up there, but it really looks like these are just the groups who really started everything and helped blow everything into proportion for other bands, so instead of Bangtan I'd go with TVXQ (who literally saved the kpop industry btw) or Super Junior.

LOL everyone is so angry. What's opinion? What's taste? Personal preference? Nope, nonexistent. Plus, this list was done by people on the internet. I could make a list right now and no one would care but because it's on an article, it must be true.

Share

The worse is when opinion is presented as fact. Everyone has their own preferences but when opinions are thrown around as facts and people who only know one group reads it, it makes them believe delusions and lies. I think everyone on the list contributed something to kpop history as well as groups who didn't make the list but you have to admit this list is bias and missing key contributors such as TVXQ. Like literally, they ARE kpop royalty, history and leaders.

"Here is a netizen's list of the top 5"

"Many of the netizens seem to think the list is quite accurate"

Also, it is mentioned that others do believe that TVXQ belongs in this list.

Nothing in this article is presented as a fact. It clearly states that this is just opinions of netizens and still 90% of people here decided to overreact, hate on and insult groups.

This site is honestly just all about hate, hate, hate. If there is any chance to bring a group down that they don't like, they will take the chance.

Edit: Those downvotes are seriously pathetic. Did I say something that's not true? Then write a comment and correct me ;)

People here are clearly in denial.

is nobody fricking realizing that all these kpop groups paved the way for other groups to come in. america was already somewhat familiar with kpop with groups like snsd, super junior, wonder girls, and big bang. and they didnt do as well as everyone had hoped which was as much fame as bts is receiving now, so nobody wanted to enter the american music industry/market. but now that america is more open to new things and the timing was right, BTS is receiving this fame. and I live in America. I live in LA for goodness sake and everyone here knows in America that BTS is popular and they have been gaining more fans/album they release, but its more of American bts fans loving bts not america loving bts. thats like saying korea loves ariana grande, because ariana grande is known for having a lot of devoted korean fans.

Mmmm... i dont disagree with anyone on the list. BUT i agree with most people here--- where is TVXQ?

Its not because i'm bias but how should i say it?? you need to be on that time to know how much impact they have in kpop. I wont talk about thing that i dont know. But one thing that i know, TVXQ really really really are popular during their time. If i have to describe it in one words its "scary".

I live in a small city in one of the asian country. Of course my country have their own music industry. But most people here only listen to our country music/artist and american music only. Even in cd store they only sold mostly cd/dvd of our local artist and some american artist. It hard to find foreign product here. But one day i saw tvxq cd. i just suddenly feel curious because its different than the usual. like totally. I dont even know what language and from what country these group are from. and that is how i started to listen to kpop. I got hook up. During that time in my hometown internet are not that widely use. its rare to find house with internet connection. And we still use that lan to connect (i dont know what its called). cybercafe is the the only place to surf internet. and that is around year 2005. I remenber spending a lot of money in cybercafe just because i want to search for their music and news. Only then i realize how popular tvxq is. There are like everywhere. I never realize that. In magazine, tv, even in hair salon you can find their photo. Their hairstyle during that time are very popular even in my hometown. Only in 2007 thing got easier with internet. Ah the memories... I never regret knowing them. They are like one of my best childhood memories/experience..

Ok let me be completely honest. I would put boygroups like TVXQ, SJ and BIgbang if you debate about top boygroup in boyband history. I love BTS but lets be honest their popularity is due to innovation in technology and content. They happened to be around at the right time. Its like how One Direction got global popularity as they were around the time when twitter, instagram and overall social netrworking service was huge hence why more people had access to their materials and content. All you K netizens dont even come at me . #sorrynotsorry

The list is quite accurate. Although I do agree that TVXQ should be of the top 5. From videos I have seen, H.O.T. created the biggest fandom during their time (yes Sechkies was there too, but a lot times it seemed they were in the shadow of H.O.T. at times). GOD was one of the first, if the last group to hit 1 million album sale (the next group to do it was EXO because of that I wouldn't but them in the top 5, definitely top 10). BIG BANG of course. They were the first Korean group to win Best World Wide EMA's, successful World Tour's both group and solo, and huge influencers in the fashion world. And Yes BTS deserves to be there. I don't know why people keep saying "ARMY's are pushing them down everyone throat." Stop it. You can't ignore that they have mad history period. As for Seoji Taji and the boys, I don't know much about them. Not knocking down their success. It seemed that it was more of solo artist and highlighted dancers that were performing. Thats why I would switch them with TVXQ. They created Hallyu wave. The first group to be extremely successful in the second biggest music market in the world which created a gateway for other kpop groups to have a debut in Japan.

If you didn't like what I said sorry :( and if you did like what I sad thank you:)

I just don't understand why people underestimate g.o.d so much. They got a Bonsang on their 15th Anniversary comeback even after almost 12 years of hiatus.

Their 2001 song still topping the charts after their recent comeback for 20th Anniversary this January with no Mvs whatsoever. They are the first that got the NBG title.

I personally appreciate G.O.D. But there's only 5 spots on this list. Seo Taiji - first. (H.O.T./Sechsies/G.O.D.) first big push, Shinhwa - longevity, TVXQ cause GODS, Big Bang - superstars, EXO/BTS cause the current face of KPop.
I'd have to say that the First Gen could be represented by any of those 4 mentioned groups (H.O.T./Sechsies/G.O.D., Shinhwa).

Seo Taiji & the Boys are the ones who are credited as the first KPop artists.

I'm not dissing G.O.D. and I'm no dude. Leaving TVXQ off a list of legendary KPop groups simply is wrong, however. No matter how you look at it.

Exo was the first in 12 years to sell over a million after G.O.D., they placed on forbes top 5 influential celebrity list 4 years in a row, were the first to be known as the biggest boy band in the world, they are their nation's representative boy band and they continue to outdo themselves each year selling millions. They deserved to be in top 5. However, so did everyone else on the list which is why lists and achievement bragging makes kpop no longer fun. It is all pointless.

I understand how BTS being trendy is annoying to some but their achievements don't deceive them. They have managed to snag many awards and perform in US stadiums and on American award shows that no other kpop group has even managed to do yet. That's an incredible feat during these short years of trendiness in my opinion. Their achievements still stand even when the BTS trend slowly fades. Just simply say you don't like them and move along with your life instead of acting as if they haven't accomplished anything.

Why can't people express their opinion without other people attacking them? Some people think these groups should be on the list and some people think other groups in their opinion should be on the list we all have different opinions and preferences I don't see what the big deal is if someone says they want this group on the list. Yes we know it's only a 5 group list but that doesn't mean we all have to agree. Not trying to create arguments but I've seen so many bickers and fan wars from all different groups of who is the most legendary and there is no wrong answer because we all have different opinions...that's all. I don't understand why KPOP groups have such divided fandoms that always lead to a clashing of groups. It's like saying because I like like Justin Bieber, I'm not allowed to like Shawn Mendes.. What is the point of theses lists? They're nothing but something to bring out these crazy fandom wars that exist in KPOP culture. People get so emotionally invested to their "biases" put them on a pedestal that they forget they too are human, make mistakes, and are allowed to have their own lives. These type of list are nothing but opinions and people do not have to get so butt hurt about having different opinions than the ones listed. One is allowed to have a different opinion than others.. That is called individuality.. Why can't we just enjoy the music that is made from all hardworking idols and musicians without arguing who is "better" or achieved more. I just want to throw this out there.. Some of the greatest artists and authors ever known only got famous posthumously (after death)- Van Gogh, Bach, etc...

I feel like all of the groups on this list should be on this list. While there is some debate on whether BTS should be on this list, or why EXO isn't on this list. BTS have blown up worldwide, and they have broke many records and started many firsts. EXO are an amazing group, and they are hard working. But they don't have the worldwide outreach as BTS does. If you ask an average American, chances are that they are going to know BTS more than EXO. Seo Taiji and Boys have paved the way for all of the other kpop groups and really set the way.

I feel like EXO could be even bigger if they didn’t take so long to do comebacks and promotions. After BTS blew up, they were kinda forgotten. When I first joined the kpop fandom, EXO was the biggest boy group. I believe EXO does deserve more though, but at the same time, they should have been more active and treated their members fairly (I still miss you luhan).

I definitely feel like SM didn't do EXO any justice by having so few comebacks and the amount of time in between them last year. The competition was really fierce in terms of the amount of music that boy groups put out. WannaOne, IKON, Winner, Monsta X, Got7, Seventeen and of course BTS were constantly pumping out music and in the publics eye. EXO's popularity is unchanging but I think 2018 was a missed opportunity for the entire group to stay in the mix with these other groups, and not give people the chance to say that their popularity is fading.

A writer who specialises in music wrote a book on BTS after becoming interested in their lyrics. He had previously written a book on Cho young pil. After doing a break down of some of their lyrics, he said that if he was asked to pick three artists who must be included in Korean music history, he would pick Cho Young Pil, Seo Tai Ji and BTS.

This is a segment from a jtbc documentary on BTS. It was aired on the news in Korea and I have to say, it was very well researched and put together. I think it if people saw it then it would put this debate on whether BTS deserve their spot on the list to rest

I haven't been able to find it in full online unfortunately, and it isn't subbed.

I personally think DBSK > BIG BANG

We can't deny who paved the Japan market

i agree that DBSK should be on the list, but not over Bigbang. maybe over G.O.D

Bigbang was for many years so far ahead compared to other groups.

They are the reason idols are wearing brand clothes instead of something made by their stylists.

They are the reason idols have started to write more self-composed songs.

They showed that idols dont have to be basic boring and fabricated, abd showed that they could be high class and delicate.

People underestimate g.o.d so much. There was already a survey done by Donga Ilbo previously on who are the Top Kpop groups for the past 20 years and g.o.d. comes in third after H.O.T with 18.9%. They are the first that got the Nation's Boy Group title. Still get a bonsang when they comeback for their 15th anniversary even after almost 12 years of hiatus. Their 2001 song "Road" were topping the Instiz chart recently after they make a recent comeback for their 20th Anniversary on 10 Jan 2019. Other people faves would wish they were still this relevant even after 20 years in the industry.

They are the reason idols are wearing brand clothes instead of something made by their stylists.-> this is not an important thing

They are the reason idols have started to write more self-composed songs. -> debuting as an idol is their preference. yang hyun suk forced them to write their songs.

They showed that idols dont have to be basic boring and fabricated, abd showed that they could be high class and delicate. -> ??

TVXQ is the one who changed the industry. Before TVXQ, idol industry was focused on idols dancing and singing, talent not requiered at all but after TVXQ, every group started to get at least 1 great vocal.

This is not just about being biggest or best boyband, it is about being cornerstones of Kpop history, you should not be an Army to appreciate BTS's success. They take Kpop on a new level.

For example I really hated Gangnam Style but it was the most successfull Korean song.

So please dont say this/that group should be on that list, look what did they succeed different than previous ones.

TVXQ and Super Junior should be in the list! BTS are the true kings of this gen so it's totally normal that they're in this list, they're number one everywhere and they're the most talented kpop group at the moment.

I love BTS, but I dare to disagree that they are the most talented kpop group right now. Their performances are fun, but they're not the best talent wise.

I honestly don't see why y'all are being so ingnorant. This list is about K-pop boy groups who have made a significant change in the industry, not about fan wars and who is better. It's about understanding how their music had an impact and brought a new light to kpop.

And to all who are saying BTS shouldn't be on here and haven't done anything. This is what I have to say

1. Are you freaking blind?!

2. Maybe you don't like their music whatever it's your choice but the only reason they are getting popular and successful is because of their hard work and dedication to music, they relate music to their personal lives which somehow relates to armies

3. BTS paved a path to US and music industry outside of Korea with their hard work and which got K-pop to be popular.

foolish people want their owns faves achievements to be appreciated but they take every little chance to degrade bts achievements....ya'all know, the possibility of any group surpassing bts achievements atleast for now is 10%.....they have set the bar so high that it's challenging even for themselves.... You wanna hear little about the achievements your so called faves does'nt share with bts that make bts have upper hand?

Bts has their protraits in the blue house museum

They are likely to have waxed figure in one of the world biggest museums

Their movie sucess surpassed that of the beatle

They have up to 20 if not more international awards

They are the first artist to talk at the UN

They've received top social artist awards for the last two years

First non english albums on hot 200...twice

Youngest to recieve the culture merit awards

Many many achievements that we can't mention

Any day your faves surpass this marks.... Let's talk again....but don't forget that they won't be the first bcos bts has done it which makes them the LEGENDS

Hun none of those achievements you named warrant being on this list. Those things don't make history or pave any ways. The way had already been paved by those before them and because of others they ended up having an easier time getting known. I don't stan BTS (don't even like them) but I think they have accomplished a lot and that's great. They deserve it. What I disagree with in your post is the several 'achievements' you listed that have been done by others before. Hell Lay has his wax figure about 3 or 4 times in the 'worlds biggest museums'. Anyone with enough money can commission a wax figure. Nothing to brag about there. Exo has 20+ international awards. Big Bang and Exo as well as others have been on the Hot 200 way before anyone paid BTS any attention. If all you know is BTS then you have no relevant contribution to a kpop discussion. BTS changed their whole image to combine Big Bang and Exo elements to even get popular. They even changed their name from Bangtan whatever and Rapmonster to RM to compete. Their growth was not organic as your fandom loves to throw around. Others on this list international growth and popularity was more organic. BTS gained fame because their company and stans spammed everyone and everything. Get off your high self-righteous horse and learn some things. The world doesn't revolve around your faves and they are not the only ones to deserve to be recognized as contributors to kpop history. Heck they only been popular for two years. Hopefully they can make this momentum last for a few more years before the hype dies.

Well we are all here to see if the hype will die soon... I'm sure y'all wll finally be crushed when they are not down anytime soon..... Please list the artist that collected most of the awards or achievement with solid evidence and then we wil talk again....

You are being very ignorant here. What elements of big bang and EXO did BTS exactly use? Also I don't know if you know this or not but bighit is not a big company compared to the companies of exo and big bang, so I don't know what your going on about organic like bruhhh you don't just stan someone and buy all of their albums and etc. because people are shoving them down your throat. Just say you don't like BTS and their music and go. Also RM changed his name to that because of his own reason so what are you saying??

the list is so acurate. Seotaji and god already created the hallyu wave not overated tvxq flop. And exoflop's achievements are not even 1/5 of bigbang so they shouldn't be in the list. Eggshits are always the delulu fandom thinking that their average flop oppas are the best

While bts' achieved the highest among these groups. Bts' achieved the used to be the impossible for korean act. So no1 is BTS the kings! No korean act can sell stadiums outside of korea and japan. Only bts!!

Seo Taiji is not an idol group, idiot. There was no hallyu wave back then. H.O.T. is the first idol group and kpop lost the hype in 2000s. TVXQ revived the dead industry again and drew all the attention and paved the way outside Korea. This is called Hallyu wave.
