BTS enter Rolling Stone's rankings for '50 Best Songs' and '20 Best Pop Albums' of 2018

BTS made it onto Rolling Stone's year-end rankings.

With 2018 drawing to a close, Rolling Stone compiled rankings for the best songs and albums of the year. The Big Hit Entertainment boy group managed to enter two rankings - '20 Best Pop Albums of 2018' and '50 Best Songs of 2018.'

BTS' 3rd album, 'Love Yourself: Tear,' landed at #13 on the '20 Best Pop Albums of 2018.' Rolling Stone highly praised the album, stating, "It’s more than just their biggest album – it comes on so strong, it’s practically the K-pop Appetite for Destruction. They show off everything they can do without watering down their style (or abandoning their language), making a chump out of anyone who claimed U.S. fans weren’t ready to embrace the sound of Seoul."

In the '50 Best Songs of 2018,' BTS is found at #38 with "Fake Love." The title track of the album 'Love Yourself: Tear' is described as an "impressive fusion" by the "K-Pop's biggest ambassadors."

BTS is the only K-pop act to make it onto Rolling Stone's year-end rankings.

Congratulations!

Love Yourself: Tear is hitting the lists of best albums of 2018. That's why it's got a Grammy nom.

'm really happy for them because they have came a long way as a group and as individuals. I'm also happy that they have gotten recognition from Rolling Stone and also earning big in MAMA 2018. I feel that during the LOVE YOURSELF era which was during 2017 and 2018 was the official height of their career thus far. The reason why is because they made music not only fun to listen to but to also convey a connection and a message to the audience the struggle with mental health and just trying to make it thru life and understanding the pressures of success. Their music shared their experiences and also telling us that even if we fail, we keep trying and we'll be fine and tomorrow is a better day. They also tell us that it's ok to cry and to feel frustrated and that what you go thru, you're not alone. They have achieved a ton of things and they have worked so hard for it. They been in the AMAs, Spoke and became Ambassadors at the UN, been on american talk shows, performed all over the world and got 2 billboard awards. They are definitely paving the way for their culture as well as for KPop artists in the making. They have also touched so many people around the world with their heartfelt messages. Now one thing I do want to talk about is this. Although yes they have been their own trailblazers in terms of the music industry during this year and last year, it's wayy too early to call them legends or icons, considering that they are a young group still and they have a lot more to achieve and as well as they have long life ahead of them. I'm not taking away from their acheivements because we can all see that they have achieved a lot and facts are facts. But we as a youth have too much of a tendancy to call every artist a legend, king or queen even thought they might have just debuted or did one hit single or they've only been in the industry for less than 20 or 10 years. So we have to be very mindful and be careful of who we immediately call legends and icons so loosely. The Beatles, Prince, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Jackson 5, Temptations, Luther Vandross, Gladys Knight, Teena Marie and Aretha Franklin are legends because they were trailblazers of the music industry, been in the industry for decades and also have achieved a lot and were unique as artists in their own right. I'm not saying that BTS dont deserve to be legends, all i'm saying is that they have a long life ahead and they have so much more to achieve as well as any other artists or kpop groups who are out now so all i'm saying for us as youth in general, be mindful of who you call so quick as legends or icons. so I would say more so that BTS are legends in the making.
