Dok2 previously addressed allegations his mother swindled 10 million Won (approx $9,000 USD) from a friend in an Instagram live, and he's now released the following statement on Instagram:
"Hello, this is Dok2. Sixteen years ago, the restaurant that my parents operated went bankrupt due to financial difficulties from the rumors of mad cow disease spreading everywhere at the time. The 10 million Won (approximately $8,800) they borrowed was to pay their employees' wages. I learned the truth about this debt only after the accusations came out in the news. Last night, we contacted the victim and resolved our misunderstandings. I said I would repay the debt as was my moral responsibility as a son, and we finally came to an agreement today. I am sorry for causing people concern."
This accusation against Dok2's mother comes after a trend of news of celebrity parents involved in fraud following Microdot's case.
Stay tuned for updates.

Even though he's got the money and it's a drop in the bucket for him, it's still sad that people are going after the kids years after the debt defaulted. Legally, the kids aren't responsible but since the kids are celebrities, they're using the scandal aspect of it to basically blackmail them into coughing up money. In this guy's case, he's like..whatever, you want money? take it and shut up.

No. In Korea, unless the child gives up inheritance rights, (murky here on which debts follows) certain debts are also inherited.

HIs mother is still alive. He hasn't inherited anything. He's paying because he cares about his mom (good for him), who confirmed the debt. As a side note and just a thought, if the parent had that much debt, all of their assets would have gone to pay that debt, so the kid wouldn't have any inheritance to claim rights to anyway, would he/she? Giving up inheritance rights would an easy choice. That's pretty messed up in S.K. if a parent can legally dump a ton of debt on their kid who was a minor at the time.
