TWICE's Chaeyoung shared the reason why she decided to chop her hair off.
During TWICE's guest appearance on this week's 'Weekly Idol', MC Jung Hyung Don asked about her drastic haircut and stated, "There's always a reason when a girl cuts her long hair."
Chaeyoung answered, "I just wanted to cut it." Jung Hyung Don continued to be suspicious, and Chaeyoung responded, "I'm the type who has to do it when I get into something. I saw that Kristen Stewart cut her hair short and I liked it so I got it cut."

She added, "J.Y. Park told me to ask for permission before I do it from now on. He was very surprised."

I just love that she did what she wanted with her own hair instead of asking for "permission" from JYP. Like sorry, is that your hair? Let the girl do what she wants. It's her hair and her appearance

But KS has a different face shape, and not every hairstyle suits any face shape. Chaeyoung seems to have a round face. Most round faces just don't look good with pixie cuts, even less if they have bangs because it makes your face look rounder. The mid bob she had before without bangs looked good on her.

Except the companies and their stylists pick out the artists hair and such. I'm not hating on the girl, but this is one of the aspects of the K-pop industry that always gets on my nerves. Like, we all know they're trained on what to say, how to act on programs- hell, they will have entire 'speeches' of sorts planned out when asked about specific topics. Case in point, Chaeyoung's hair. This girl may or may not like the hair style, but I don't buy for two seconds that she specifically chose that cut or style. Entire comebacks and their subsequent styles are planned, and are basically altered according to how the fans react. I think she looks adorable with both long and short hair, all the girls could probably rock a short hair cut like this and still look lovely. But she didn't choose that look, and this is just another planned speech for the program. K-pop contracts are so specific about that kind of stuff, so there is no way she would be allowed to just go off on her own and get it cut. Don't get me wrong, some artists probably have a little more pull when they get to a certain status, like Big Bang for example- but for the most part, these artists have little to no say in what they wear or how they present themselves. It's all planned out for them.

It does look edgy like Kristen's style when Chaeyoung takes promotional pictures, but for example the kind of style she went for on Weekly Idol is just a huge no for her. It's the kind of hair style a Japanese idol from the 80s would pull off and it was great back then, but for Chaeyoung it makes her look way older and it's a really boring style.
