TV personality Dex is taking on the challenge of acting.
According to a report by News1 on June 17, Dex will make a special appearance in Season 2 of the Netflix original series 'Bloodhounds' (directed and written by Kim Joo Hwan).
'Bloodhounds' is an action noir series that garnered major attention upon the release of its first season in June 2023. The show quickly entered Netflix's Top 10 in 80 countries worldwide and maintained strong rankings not only in Korea but also in Southeast Asia and Latin America. It even topped the global non-English series chart. The show was praised for its intense fight scenes and the compelling chemistry between its two main characters.
Season 1 followed promising boxer Gun Woo (played by Woo Do Hwan), who joins a high-interest illegal loan organization to repay his mother's debt. Along the way, he meets Woo Jin (played by Lee Sang Yi), a former Marine turned boxer, and the two form a strong bond as they fight against injustice. Their showdown with powerful villain Kim Myung Gil (played by Huh Joon Ho) portrayed the struggles of young people confronting ruthless capitalism and violence.
Season 2 will center on the two protagonists battling an international illegal boxing gambling ring. While Season 1 focused on Korea’s underground loan sharks, the sequel expands its scope globally. Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi will return as Gunwoo and Woojin, respectively. A new villain, played by Jung Ji Hoon (Rain), will be introduced, setting up an intense confrontation.
As Gun Woo, Woo Do Hwan will show an even tougher, more determined character. Whereas he fought loan sharks to pay for his mother’s hospital bills in Season 1, in Season 2, he will go head-to-head with the systemic evils of the underground boxing league. Lee Sang Yi, once again playing Woojin, Gun Woo's partner and a former Marine, will bring upgraded action and dynamic chemistry to the screen.
Dex’s special appearance in Season 2 is expected to bring fresh energy to the story. After leaving a strong impression through the variety show Single’s Inferno, Dex has taken on diverse roles in 'Game of Blood 2,' 'Zombieverse,' 'Fresh Off the Sea,' and 'Adventure by Accident.' Most recently, he expanded his activities as the MC of SBS’s audition program 'B: My Boyz.'
Season 2 of 'Bloodhounds' is currently in production. The release date will be announced later via Netflix.
