kitteauaena Thursday, April 27, 2017

from what i've heard on /r/kpop she's supposedly been a fan of Dreamcatcher since they were Minx

karaboy97 kitteauaena Friday, April 28, 2017

WOW really?! :O do you have a link? I wanna see it myself. And I'm glad Dreamcatcher is getting the attention they deserve! :)

kitteauaena karaboy97 Friday, April 28, 2017

reddit is currently down and links don't work here, but when reddit is back up, just go to reddit/r/kpop, click on the thread that mentions the princess, and just do CTRL+F for "Minx", and someone mentioned that she leaked news of Dreamcatcher's re-debut on her IG well before Happy Face Ent. officially announced it, meaning she already knew the group. It's also mentioned on AsianJunkie (just toss "Her Royal Excellency Mom Luang Rajadarasri Jayankura of Thailand stans Dreamcatcher" into Google search and it's the first result).

Thanks a lot! Will try to search for it once reddit is up :)

Cutie888 Thursday, April 27, 2017

Wow that's good for them :)

xxStrlght Thursday, April 27, 2017

This is so cute. I still haven't checked them out, are they worth it? Any opinions?

riae158 xxStrlght Thursday, April 27, 2017

They have a very distinct sound that you can't really find in other kpop groups, so I would highly recommend you check them out! The two songs they have so far are Chase Me and Good Night.

Narutz xxStrlght Thursday, April 27, 2017

Yeees, they are! Their dancing skills are outstanding! I sugest you to watch their live performances first. Their MV are very interesting as well and they tell a story. Good Night MV is like the sequel of their debut MV, Chase Me ^^

xxStrlght Thursday, April 27, 2017

I just finished Good Night and Chase Me and I'm in awe. They're rookies but their concept is so solid. They're really great. Thank you, pals!

kentv xxStrlght Thursday, April 27, 2017

Good night reminds me a lot of what the opening theme music for a suspense or horror anime like Blood+ or Deathnote would be. It's very good and quite different from much of anything I am hearing in Kpop currently.

denn1sable xxStrlght Thursday, April 27, 2017

i like them because they remind me of 4minute (fierce side rather than cute side of kpop) . their dancing is great but i find their singing still uneven. i'm sure they'll improve on that.

Its_Greed Thursday, April 27, 2017

The Princess knows what's good. Can't wait for Dreamcatcher's next single.

Kpopgurl82 Its_Greed Thursday, April 27, 2017

alphabeta91 Thursday, April 27, 2017

smokeee Thursday, April 27, 2017

how do foreigners get into these obscure kpop groups?

k_kid smokeee Thursday, April 27, 2017

People like whoever they want to like. They don't have to be a sheep to the masses.

Narutz smokeee Thursday, April 27, 2017

There is a wonderful thing called internet, and internet have youtube and google! That's like witchcraft, but that's how it works.

Kevyy smokeee Thursday, April 27, 2017

Every single kpop group or solo artist was at one point "obscure" so what are you even saying.

smokeee Kevyy Thursday, April 27, 2017

i'm saying foreign fans dont get access to local korean radio or media regularly that plays obscure groups. that they have to generally be specifically looking up the obscure groups going out of their way most of the time to discover them if they're foreign. as opposed to the big name groups who are very easy to notice abroad. its just weird how people who dont live in korea know about them unless they get korean radio somehow or are purposely looking into them on the internet.

Kevyy smokeee Thursday, April 27, 2017

There is youtube, and who says Thailand doesn't have kpop related sites too? By the American artists who are lately drawn to kpop you should know by now kpop is everywhere now.

smokeee Kevyy Thursday, April 27, 2017

do you know how the internet works for kpop? like i said unless you're specifically looking up a group you generally dont hear the lesser known groups unless maybe from a youtube playlist. they'd even be lucky to be included on someones playlist TBH. popular kpop groups are everywhere. obscure kpop groups aren't everywhere.

Kevyy smokeee Thursday, April 27, 2017

Ugh you starting to get on my nerves with that "obscure" sht honestly. Go ahead and tell then that you think Dreamcatcher has to fail bc they are not from SM. I got into kpop bc of a friend who had shown me a video. Why is it so hard for you to accept even smaller groups can get attention. Besides kpop is played all over Asian countries so yeah.

Kujaichi smokeee Thursday, April 27, 2017

Hell, even I know Dreamcatcher and I don't generally know a thing about kpop. They were on Music Bank at least twice (and therefore popped up on KBS Worlds channel), can't be that obscure.

smokeee Kevyy Thursday, April 27, 2017

because they dont. because a group like crayon pop had to perform on streets to get attention. because most obscure kpop groups have to go out of their way to be noticed. i dont know anything about Dreamcatcher. maybe they aren't obscure. i'm just saying you acting like every kpop group can be so well known, especially abroad, is not true at all. its the opposite of what you're preteending.

miitsss smokeee Thursday, April 27, 2017

Also if you ever visit any mall in South-East Asia, you will notice that they play kpop just as regularly as American or local music

kentv smokeee Thursday, April 27, 2017

I know I read articles about Dreamcatcher's recent comeback on Soompi and AKP, and they popped up in my recommended videos feed on Youtube as well. Obscure is a relative term. If you perform on one of the weekly music shows, you really aren't obscure anymore. An obscure group never even gets a sniff of one of the shows. Minx, which was this group's original incarnation didn't do real well, but they made it onto the shows some, into some Kpop news articles, and that gets them on the radar of international fans. As to why some groups that aren't real popular in Korea are real popular in other countries, that is likely just a matter of a group's sound or visuals just fitting a foreign market better than their own.
