Actress Kim Min Hee and married director Hong Sang Soo have reportedly ended their affair.
On September 13, media outlet World Today reported, "According to industry insiders, actress Kim Min Hee and Hong Sang Soo have decided to part ways following the news of Kim Min Hee's comeback to the movie world." One acquaintance of the scandalous couple stated, "Director Hong is currently preparing to film a movie in America. At least until two months ago, he and Kim Min Hee were exchanging phone calls."
The acquaintance added, "However, they've suggested they've become estranged, deciding to separate for Kim Min Hee's future. What you know of the two so far is not true. They were not lovers, but they were two film people who shared a friendship. They did not have a secret marriage or an extramarital affair. Kim Min Hee looked after Director Hong, who had left his home, and they simply became friends. They were not in a romantic relationship."
Kim Min Hee and Hong Sang Soo were previously rumored to have married in the state of Utah, America. Another rumor is saying the actress and director parted ways "in tears" for their respective careers. Though Kim Min Hee was said to have been cast in the director's upcoming film, it's reported he's now decided to cast a different actress.
When an acquaintance questioned him about his relationship with Kim Min Hee, Hong Sang Soo reportedly responded, "It's in the past now."

It's unlikely that we the public will ever know the full truth between these two and their families, but this sounds like a poor patch-up excuse to fix their images for their jobs. I believe she was indeed a homewrecker and he was a cheater, and they were brutally insensitive to the director's wife and daughter, as well as the commitment of marriage...But even if they were not "lovers" and just "friends," they handled their interactions irresponsibly and without respect.

It was bad enough that he cheated and she dated a married man but the fact that he didn't fund his child's education to financially support his side-chick is what enraged me the most. Never again I'm gonna watch a movie directed by this guy or a movie or drama with Kim Min Hee in it.
