A mother's cry for help to get justice for her 2-year-old daughter, who she claims was cruelly abused by her daycare teacher, was shared on Facebook on September 22.
The mother, identified by her surname Kim, had placed her daughter in the hands of a daycare center in Gwangju when she started working full-time in July. Kim and her husband, trusting that they had put her daughter in good hands, were shocked to discover bright red scratch marks on her daughter's neck when the husband went to pick her up at the daycare on September 19.

When the father demanded to know what caused the scratch marks, Lee, the daycare instructor in charge, had reportedly replied that the child "scratched herself." Skeptical that her daughter inflicted such bodily harm on herself, Kim complained of the incident to the daycare director, and the director confessed that Lee had left the scratch marks while feeding the child. Despite the director's confession, Lee continued to claim that the child "scratched herself," refusing to admit fault. Eventually, Kim reported the case to the police, who checked the surveillance footage and discovered that Lee had indeed scratched the child and much worse.
The video showed Lee shoving food into the child's mouth even though her mouth was already full of food and shaking her by the collar and kicking her for crying. Only when confronted with the evidence, Lee apologized, saying, "I'm sorry. Please forgive me." Lee even visited Kim's home and workplace and sent batches of text messages to try to make up for her unacceptable behavior.
Meanwhile, Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station informed media outlet Insight, "The case was reported this past September 19 so we're currently investigating. If the child abuse comes to light, then the perpetrator will be punished accordingly."
