EXO Chanyeol's pre-debut post about Girls' Generation has re-gained attention following Seventeen Wonwoo's apology letter on his past behavior.
On May 9, Wonwoo officially apologized for his past anti-Girls' Generation actions. Then on May 10, netizens brought up a post allegedly written by Chanyeol before his debut, and compared it to Wonwoo's recent controversy.

The post, which has surfaced online in the past, claimed that Chanyeol wrote about Girls' Generation on his Cyworld after seeing them for the first time. Evidently, he called the girls ugly and even compared them to his girlfriend. The exact words of the post read, "Ah kekekekekekeke I met Girls' Generation at SM kekeke They were all ugly because they had bare faces, but Taeyeon was amazing........ She's so damn pretty. But not as much as Hyoyeon (Chanyeol's alleged girlfriend at the time)."
Some netizens demanded an apology from Chanyeol for insulting Girls' Generation, and questioned why he has not done so yet, when Wonwoo has written a long letter of apology. They commented, "He's putting them down by calling them ugly. That is discriminating on looks. His fans say that is the only post, but it's not the quantity that matters. What's not right is not right. What needs to be criticized deserves criticism. EXO-Ls need to stop defending him."
On the other hand, some netizens wrote, "Wonwoo even photoshopped trash and stuff, but Chanyeol just attempted to praise his girlfriend. I don't think it should be compared to Wonwoo's controversy", "That's insulting? He can't even have his own perspectives? What are you suppose to say when you truly think they are ugly? People just trying to bash on Chanyeol", etc.
Other fans seemed to have doubts about the post in general, asking, "Why isn't the blue bar cut out? Doesn't that mean it's photoshopped?"
