It seems like a good chunk of the popular new male actors in this generation are former models and idols. Some may think that breaking into the acting business might be a little easier for them as opposed to completely new actors, but apparently that's not the case.

On the June 8th airing of SBS' 'Healing Camp', model-turned-actor Lee Soo Hyuk talked about getting his foot in the door in the acting world. He shared, "One time, I went into an acting audition, and there was also Kim Young Kwang and Sung Joon, who had been modeling for a while. The production crew told us to do a model walk instead of act. It felt like we were looked down on."

Kim Young Kwang added, "We all went into the audition by brightly greeting each other, but when we came out our moods were not good.Lee Soo Hyuk added, "There are many times we're looked more down upon than new actors."

Looking forward to seeing more of his dramas

Isn't modeling like acting with only an expression???

is not that model turned actors receive more prejudice.. he does cause last time i read anything about him they were saying he used other idols fame to get a head and mentioned key, Cl and G-dragon amongst others!!

"There are many times we're looked more down upon than new actors."

it's also probably the fact that rookie actors only have one goal to be a great actor. ;

i wouldn't say lee soo hyuk and kim young kwang are horrible but they aren't great. ; they also play the same kind of characters but they are finally starting to expand away from that. ; good luck to them both

Well a majority of model turned actors suck at acting, i thought lee min ho and jong suk are terrible actors b/c they rely too much on the drama cliches to "save" their bad acting. But thats just an opinion. Same thing goes for idol turned actors

The majority of the most popular actors right now are former models. If they're having a hard time maybe it's because they need to work just a little bit harder on their craft.

I'm just glad that their acting isn't just shit. They work hard to make the best they can with their role despite being models and I love that about them. Acting has become a part of them as well as modeling so it's alright. They're all super dedicated and are super good so being a hot model on the side is a bonus ❤️❤️

As long as they have the talent and passion for it, I don't see what's wrong with it. Plus, they've all become pretty famous! :D

I can understand idols turned actors a bit because of their popularity [but imo, a lot of idol turned actors aren't that great - not saying all of them are bad, but most are just average]
