Actress Goo Hye Sun flatly called out variety programs for constantly alluding to her during Ahn Jae Hyun's appearances.
The actress and businesswoman wrote on her Instagram on August 8 KST,
"I do not believe it is ethical journalism to perpetually brand every news headline with the keywords 'divorced 5-years ago'.
My divorce process with my ex-husband went on for quite a long time due to our conflicting views and resulted in a settlement in which both parties chose not to pursue the truth behind the other's claims. It was not a reconciliation between the two involved parties, but still, it was a promise between both sides to uphold our duties to each other. Divorce is a process which involves two sides openly voicing the harm they incurred during the marriage. It is a difficult process that makes you selfish.
Therefore, to repeatedly allude to this matter of our divorce in a way that clearly brings up to mind the other party, despite the fact that the divorce did not end well, constitutes dirty play. It is my wish that those who are in charge of writing and producing many of today's provocative gossip programs and content will come to the realization, that asking certain questions meant to trigger certain answers or responses from my ex-husband may be considered an act of harm against that person.
In other words, I am asking for today's variety programs to adopt a conscious. Even if it was meant as a joke, if any one person feels discomfort from it, then such actions must be stopped.
I am not someone who cries when I'm sad or hurt. I am not good with my words. But that does not mean that I am a person void of emotions. Please know that not a single individual in this world has the right to mock me for the sake of drawing laughter from viewers. Finally, I sincerely hope and pray that my ex-husband can receive the spotlight not for his identity as my ex-husband, but as himself and for his honesty."
Meanwhile, Goo Hye Sun and Ahn Jae Hyun married in 2016 and divorced in 2020.
