Kwon Sohyun and Heo Gayoon, former members of 4minute, recently opened up about the possibility of a group reunion and shared honest reflections about their time together.
On a recent episode of the YouTube channel 'Ticket Sohyun’, a video titled “Everything I Wanted to Ask Ga Yoon Unnie, We Said It All Today” was uploaded. In the video, Kwon Sohyun visits Heo Gayoon, who is currently living in Bali.
“I don’t want to say it’s Bali specifically, I just want to live wherever there’s an ocean,” said Heo Gayoon. “I still come back to Korea occasionally. It’s hard because I miss my parents, but I want to explore other islands too. I’m not sure how many years I’ll stay.”
Before moving to Bali, she experienced social anxiety and binge eating disorder. “I also had hypothyroidism. My doctor was surprised by how much my thyroid levels improved. I think it’s because I’m living stress-free now,” she shared. “Every time I visit Korea, I’m reminded of how hard everyone works. I still have moments of anxiety, but I try to forget them. I’m happy now.”
Naturally, the topic fans are most curious about, a 4minute reunion, was brought up. Heo Gayoon commented, “It was such a good memory that it’s almost scary to touch. But I do miss it. When I come to Korea and see the members, I wonder what it would feel like to go on schedules together again. It’s been almost ten years now. It’s a mix of curiosity and fear.”
Kwon Sohyun added, “If we were to reunite, I feel like I’d return to that version of myself. Joking around, laughing, just being silly. But we’ve all matured now, and I think we’d feel a whole range of emotions, it would be bittersweet, strange, and fun at the same time.”
Heo Gayoon also revealed, “I recently talked about this with Nam Jihyun. We said, ‘Our members are really cool now.’ Just the fact that we’re still in this industry is something to be proud of.”
They also opened up about the challenges they faced during their 4minute days. Heo Gayoon reflected, “Lately I’ve realized our members were all really kind. When sparks would fly, no one added fuel. We always tried to understand and smooth things over. We were six people chasing the same dream, how could there not be some ambition? But we kept things in, we endured. We didn’t want to cause conflict.”
Kwon Sohyun confessed, “We didn’t even know how to communicate. We thought that talking things out would cause problems. That’s something I regret. I think if it were now, we’d talk and listen more maturely. Back then, I wasn’t capable of doing that.”
4Minute debuted in 2009 and disbanded in 2016, with each member going on to pursue individual careers. Following their disbandment, the group faced rumors of discord after several members unfollowed HyunA on social media and didn’t attend her wedding last year. However, the group celebrated their 16th anniversary together in June, effectively putting those rumors to rest.
