Following "Mileage" and title track "One Fine Day", "Checkmate" is the third song from Yonghwa's first debut album 'One Fine Day' to come bundled an MV. Yonghwa and Singaporean singer-songwriter JJ Lin collaborated on the track's composition and lyrics, and both singers star in the MV as well.
