It seems You're Beautiful star Jang Geun Suk is garnering a large fan base overseas. The star is planning to hold a fan meeting on January 31st at the Olympic Hall in Seoul. Tickets to the event went up for sale recently and about a quarter of the ticket sales were from fans overseas. And from that a majority of the oversea ticket sales were from China and Taiwan. Even though Jang Geun Suk never had any official activities in China, his role in the SBS Drama You're Beautiful has made him popular in the region. In fact, when Jang Geun Suk held a fan meeting in Japan last November, a good portion of the fans in attendance were Chinese. His agency, Tree J Company LTD. stated that he's been receiving a few offers from China. He's also been receiving a lot of fan letters from the region and is trying his best to read them all. Boys Over Flowers put Lee Minho on the map and it seems You're Beautiful has done the same for Jang Geun Suk. I look forward to more of his work in the near future. Thanks to megan for the tip.
