According to industry insiders, boy groups NU'EST, HALO, and KNK will be appearing as contestants on the upcoming season 2 of 'Produce 101', which features male trainees.

On season 1 of 'Produce 101', Jung Chae Yeon was a contestant who had debuted with DIA before leaving the group in order to appear on the show. She then rejoined the group while carrying out promotions with IOI

One industry insider said, "Looking back on the success of the former season, it doesn't seem like a bad idea to appear just as a method of letting one's name be known on the male 'Produce 101'."

Meanwhile, the 2nd season of 'Produce 101' will be hosted by BoA

Idk about KNK and Halo, but isn't it kinda weird for NU'EST to go on there?

Nu'est hasn't really been doing well at all. It appears as though they've been ignored throughout their career. Plus even though they're the sunbaes, SEVENTEEN has far surpassed them in fame and success with Pristin who seem to be following. From their lack of success it makes sense but from how long it's been since they've debuted I agree with you. Either way having members of groups that have already debuted to appear on this season just doesn't feel right.

I completely agree with you. Like yes, they need and deserve the attention but they debuted a while ago. While I don't think it's fair for people who are already in groups to go on, I see why they do and I think it only fine if they debuted within this generation of kpop or in the last year or 2. Idk, I just hope they get the attention without going through evil editing

I think this will bring the groups hate among contestants and netizens, because if they end in the final line up they will say it's unfair because they already debuted and are no longer rookies (especially for nu'est); but if they don't end in the final line up the netizens will go 'as expected from nugus/no doubt why they're still nugus/that's why they're flops/etc'... it's a complicated situation...

This is a huge opportunity for groups like NU'EST to regain popularity. I hope that Boyfriend participate as well.

This is totally unfair if it's true. Because this bands are already famous or quite known, on the first Produce 101 we have only the Dia members and Chaekyung from Puretty, but they weren't as popular as this bands.People used to say it was unfair for Somi to participate just because she was on SIXTEEN, now a band with four year and still going? They'll be half of the final line-up.

We don't even know if all members are participating. And it's not like any of them are actually popular individually...
