On October 12, Cube Entertainment addressed recent issues surrounding rookie boy group Pentagon's introductory phrase.

While Pentagon's introductory phrase, in which the boys shout "Pentastic! Hello, we are Pentagon!", was created during the group's pre-debut reality show 'Pentagon Maker' and voted on as the one desired by fans, it's been pointed out on online communities that the term "pentastic" is too similar to an official F.T. Island fan item called the "Pentastick". The "Pentastick" is an essential item for many Primadonna, who wave it around during F.T. Island performances.

Cube Entertainment stated about the issue, "While Pentagon's current introduction, which fans helped Pentagon create through Mnet's 'Pentagon maker', is a precious introduction which represents Pentagon, we have decided to change it to a more meaningful introduction by combining the number 10, which symbolizes Pentagon, with the word fantastic, to make (Tentastic). Please cheer on and support Pentagon, who will begin their official promotions through 'M! Countdown' this October 13."

It seems like the group was able to deal with the situation with a simple, minor change to their introduction without altering its meaning too much. Do you like Pentagon's new introduction?

What the shit? This is dumb. They sound similar, but they otherwise have completely different etymologies, completely different contexts, and completely different usages. Dumb dumb dumb. I suppose similar sounding English words may be more significant to people that aren't native speakers, however.

But the people complaining should sort of realize that they come from English words, and that the English words are different. Unless they don't know the actual reason behind why those words are what they are, and are assuming that one group just stole the word directly from the other. But that'd be silly...

The issue started in Korea. And it's precisely because it's the same spelling in Korean that some fans are complaining. I don't think the complaining is about the stealing part haha. If you're in kpop fandom long enough you'll know how colors and slogans etc are more symbolic and held dearly to. I'm just glad everything turned out fine.
