Jang Hae Young, a member of F-IV, has passed away at the age of 45 after a battle with cancer. His death occurred on October 6.
According to a report by Spotv News on October 11, Jang had been privately contending with the illness prior to his passing.
The news was shared by fellow F-IV member Kim Hyun Soo on social media, who posted a profile image of Jang along with a message that read, "Goodbye. Let’s sing together again when we meet in heaven." It was reported that Kim Hyun Soo only recently became aware of Jang’s passing.
Jang Hae Young’s death has come as a shock to fans, as he had not been publicly active in recent years. Many continue to honor his memory and contributions to the music industry.
Born in 1980, though some sources previously listed him as born in 1981, Jang debuted in 1997 as part of the duo Kid, known for the song "Oh! Nanriya." In 2002, he debuted with F-IV alongside Woo Jung Tae, Kim Hyun Soo, and Seo Ji Won. The group achieved widespread success with hits such as "Girl," "Ring," "Merry Christmas," and "I’m Sorry."
Jang served as F-IV’s main vocalist and also pursued solo activities, releasing the single "I’m Sorry That I’m Ugly" in 2009. In 2012, the group celebrated their 10th anniversary with the fan song Thank You. F-IV reunited for JTBC’s variety program '2You Project - SugarMan' in 2016, where they received attention for their enduring stage presence and vocal performance. During the program, Jang shared that he had been working as a freelance investment consultant.
Jang Hae Young’s passing is a significant loss for the K-pop community. His talent, artistry, and the music he shared continue to be remembered by fans both in South Korea and internationally.
