On October 10, Hueningkai took to Weverse direct messaging to apologize to fans and clarify the situation. He stated that the individual he was with was just an acquaintance and simply took her home in the evening. He explained, "I feel really sorry towards MOAs (TXT fandom name). I don't know why I should avoid this, so I'll just explain. I was with an acquaintance, and I was in a situation where I couldn't just leave her. So, I took her home and then went straight back to the dorm. It was the holidays, so everything was closed, and we just went to the only open place."
on X (formerly Twitter), Hueningkai further explained, "Since debut, I've hated causing trouble for the members. I'm basically a homebody and don't go out much, but it was someone I hadn't seen in a long time, so I met with them. Even then, I kept thinking about what to do in the situation, but I couldn't just leave them, so I quickly brought them home and returned to the dorm. I'm really sorry for worrying you and making you concerned."
Hueningkai reassured fans and continued to write, "I'm really sorry for worrying you and making you concerned. I hate lying; I just wanted to be honest. It seems like this situation caused a lot of misunderstandings, but MOAs don't need to worry at all. I want to focus more on work and MOAs, so I'll try harder from now on, so you won't have to worry. I feel really sorry if I hurt MOAs, the members, or the staff, and I don't know how this message will be received. If this doesn't get across, truly sorry. I said I wanted to be someone you could trust. But I feel I wasn't able to, so I'm sorry."
Earlier, on October 8, an anonymous online user posted photos of Hueningkai and alleged the idol was out drinking all night with a woman in a private room.
The accuser claimed that Hueningkai "went out drinking with a woman just a day after returning to Korea" and that the two "drank until it was almost morning". The pair also "waited until all of the other customers had gone home" before being picked up in a car.
Following the initial accusations, fans defended Hueningkai, claiming the woman was his sister. Regardless of the claims, this sparked outrage on various online communities.
