On an auspicious “good day,” five entertainment-world couples were married in Korea on Oct. 11.
First up, YouTuber Kwak Tube (Kwak Jun Bin) wed his non-celebrity partner, who is five years younger, at a hotel in Yeouido, Seoul. Having previously shared that they are expecting, the pair marked what friends called a “three-person wedding,” celebrating with their baby on the way. The guest list was star-studded: Jun Hyun Moo emceed, Davichi performed, and close friend Pani Bottle delivered a heartfelt toast. Attendees included Ahn Bo Hyun, Ji Ye Eun, Ryu Hyun Kyung, Lee Joon, Kang Ki Young, creators Gwedo and Pungja, model Joo Woo Jae, comedian Lee Yong Joo, musician Jung Jae Hyung, comedian Kim Hae Jun, Jin of BTS, Kian84 and Joo Ho Min, chef Kwon Sung Joon, and PD Kim Tae Ho. Longtime Uzbek friends Omong and Orippo—whom Kwak Tube reportedly helped with visas in person—also attended.
Producer Kush of THE BLACK LABEL and partner Vivien also married that day after nine years of public dating, having confirmed their relationship in 2016. The event drew a mini-BIGBANG reunion: Taeyang sang the celebratory song, Daesung served as MC, and G-Dragon joined as a guest. Labelmate Jeon So Mi and choreographer Leejung Lee tossed petals down the aisle, brightening the couple’s procession.
Belgian-born TV personality Julien Quintart held a private ceremony in Seoul with his Korean bride, five years his junior; the two have reportedly dated for more than three years. Comedian Kim Sook and German-born entertainer Daniel Lindemann handled hosting duties.
Actor Jo Wan Ki also married in Seoul, sharing a quiet ceremony with family and close friends. Posting a video of the day, Jo Wan Ki said, "We were blessed by so many well-wishers."
Another industry match took place at The Shilla Seoul: SBS variety PD Lee Hong Hee, known for ‘Bro & Marble’, married film director Jo Young Myung, credited with ‘You Are the Apple of My Eye’. The couple first met through a mutual group and built their relationship on trust before deciding to marry. Cho Se Ho and Ji Suk Jin emceed, with performances by Lee Seung Gi, Huh Gak, and Kim Yong Jun. Stars including Lee Dong Hwi, Yoo Yeon Seok, Choi Yeo Jin, and model Song Hae Na joined a wide circle of TV and film colleagues to celebrate.
Why so many weddings on one date? Oct. 11 fell on a so-called “handless day,” a good day when evil spirits aren’t wandering around—traditionally favored for weddings, moves, and new openings. It also landed on a peak fall weekend—prime wedding season—so venues booked quickly and, as seen in entertainment circles, ceremonies clustered on the same auspicious date.
