On February 26, the first plea date between Ms. Choi and Kim Hyun Joong in their paternity suit took place at the Seoul Family Court, where the father's lawyer stated, "The defendant (Kim Hyun Joong) wants to raise the defendant's child."
During the trial, the two sides clashed regarding the child rearing expenses and property rights. Kim Hyun Joong's side brought up the issue of Ms. Choi's standing to sue.
Regarding this, the justice department stated, "The justice department is also questioning that and in discussion over it. However, an order has already been made regarding the legal property description, so we hope to specify that that is separate from the problem of the standing to sue."
