GABDONGI EPISODE 11

Where we left off: Ho Seok was about to hammer Ji Wool's mother to death, but Mu Yeom tackles him and takes him in. Maria has a creepy encounter with Tae Oh in the nightclub where she is forced onto a couch withTae Oh above her, saying he doesn't know when he'll kill her. After an unsettling interrogation, we find out Ho Seok used to be Profiler Han's assistant. AfterJi Woolturns down his offer to go with him,Tae Oh boards a plane to Switzerland aloneand proceeds to murder a flight attendant. Mu Yeom moves some monks next to Maria's trailer so that they can keep an eye on her, and later,Mu Yeom and Chul Geon search Profiler Han's office as he's said some macabre things this episode. There, they find a bloodstained police badge -- not Han's but Chul Geon's!

Looks like he has a touch of indigestion

'Gabdongi' gets more twisted the more I watch, and this episode kicked up a notch. I thought that was Profiler Han in the last episode! And now a possible pedophilia charge found in his file and a bloody detective badge? He does say that it was very likelyHo Seok learned aboutGab Dong's signature knots from him. Ho Seok worked asHan's assistant after becoming a suspect; he wanted to prove his own innocence by helping to catch the real Gab Dong. But, if Profiler Han is Gab Dong, does that mean he's still active? Remember, the only murders this episode were committed by Tae Oh. Profiler Hanwould be the perfect suspect simply because his knowledge of serial killings and the Gabdongi case specifically. But if he is Gab Dong what does this mean for Maria? Does she know or even suspect? And what will she do when she finds out? Or is this another smokescreen by the writers to throw us off the trail?

The more I see of Ji Wool, the more I have to chuckle. We see a bit more of her this episode than we have recently. She's very naive about Tae Oh, which is also very strange. Apparently her thought process goes: hot guy, kinda weird, must be innocent? It almost looked like she was considering taking him up on his offer to flee the country, making their relationship doubly disturbing. I could see Tae Oh tying her up and checking her as baggage, but thankfully our little spitfire is still alive and kicking. Her new job at the police station means the cops can keep an eye on her now while she keeps an eye on Mu Yeom. Her jealousy of Mu Yeom and Maria is cute, although I can see it getting old unless they do something to shake it up. Maybe now that she's at the police station and actually has a reason to be there, things will change up a little.

Let's see...what did I forget? Peanuts, ginger ale, oh! That's right! Murder!

Tae Oh treats his villainy like it's not his own. He tells Maria not to goad him into killing her, like he'd rather not do it. Does that mean he was not in control when he committed those murders and got others to kill for him by proxy? He certainly seems to know what he's doing, but is he developing feelings for Maria andJi Wool? He doesn't kill Maria when he has the chance and Ji Wool is the one he invites for a jaunt out of the country-- that's just in this episode alone. If he is developing feelings for them, that's certainly eerie. And what does he want them for? Is he truly capable of love or are they another dark outlet for his impulses? And what happens to him when that body is found on the plane?

This episode Mu Yeom almost seems to be acting like Chul Geon, apprehending murder suspects and assuming they are Gab Dong (e.g.,Ho Seok). This is brought into stark contrast in this installment. Even Chul Geon tells him here that he's not Gab Dongand that Mu Yeom would know this if he really thought it through. But, let's assume Ho Seok is not Gab Dong (Profiler Han is, at least for this episode...next it'll be the janitor). What's his connection to Tae Oh? I know he was a suspect from way back. Did his being an inmate have anything to do with him being a suspect? Or were there more profound mental problems that placed him there?

That's enough questions for now. I'll quiet down and we can get to watching the next episode.
