Aziatix open up about their debut in the US

Korean-American R&B and hip hop group Aziatix recently made headlines across both Korea and the US after signing with American labelCash Money Records. After introducing themselves at the 'Pre-Grammy Party' earlier this month, the talented trio sat down for an interview with Korean press and opened up about their upcoming debut in the US.

Aziatix is comprised of three Korean-American members:Eddie Shin ( 27), Flowsik (28) and Nicky Lee (33).

Flowsik shared how his group is differentiating themselves in the American music market, stating, "To Koreans, it sounds like pop music, but in the US, it has an Asian feel. We often hear that we have our own color and that our sound is new and unique."

Jae Chong, a former member of R&B group Solid and producer for the group revealed, "American music is becoming saturated, and we can't enjoy much of it. On the other hand, Aziatix' music is refreshing. I think their music, which has both rhythm and melody, can be the step towards returning to that kind of music. Another strong point of the group is that it has both vocalists and rappers."

Eddie Shin recognized the power of the internet, sharing, "There is no market that is not important these days. It has become a globalized market where you can reach the world through the internet. Even if we release an album in Seoul, we would immediately get comments from Peru. When we released our debut album in March of 2011, we got contacted by a radio station in Germany, and they requested if they could play our music."

Nicky Lee also shared, "The Eagles weren't formed through an audition. They met fellow musicians in the neighborhood or in the schoolby chance. We are like that as well. It is hard to repeat an event which happened by fate through a formula. There are markets in which it works and markets where it doesn't. In the US, it doesn't work that way. That is why you need creativity. Even if you mimic and fake a little bit, the consumers can tell."

Nicky Lee first met Jae Chong when he was 17 years old in LA, and they've released five albums together in Taiwan. Flowsik was born and raised in NY and shares his personal stories through rap music. He revealed that honesty is the biggest appeal of his rap. He even introduced Seo Taji & Boys' rap music to his American friends, who then fell in love with Korean hip hop. Eddie Shin, born in Boston, graduated from NYU as a music major and became a singer-songwriter.

Aziatix will unveil their debut US single this March or April.
