(JANUARY 15, 2010) Hailing from the #2 music market in Asia and the #6 digital music market in the world, Korean Pop or 'K-Pop' music has emerged as a dynamic genre phenomena that is breaking beyond its local borders and beginning to make waves across the region and around the world. Representing a diverse range of urban, rock, and dance music styles, K-Pop artists have recently topped sales and airplay charts in Japan, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia and debuted albums and singles on charts in North America. With their catchy multilingual hits and sensational live shows, K-Pop acts are among the hottest concert headliners coming out of Asia. And fueled by the dramatic growth of overseas K-Pop fans over the past few years, foreign language K-Pop sites now attract more online traffic than any and all Korean music sites in Korea. In order to raise the awareness and support the export of Korean music on the global stage, the Korea Creative Contents Agency (KOCCA) and the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, & Sports are proud to present for the first time ever -- 'K-Pop Night at MIDEM'.
