YG Entertainment's Yang Hyun Suk has shared new updates on YG artists' promotional activities for this year.
He announced that BLACKPINK is actively preparing to release their upcoming album and embark on a world tour. BABYMONSTER is also set to release a new song on July 1.
BABYMONSTER's new song, titled "Hot Sauce," is described as "simple, fun, and addictive"—a track that feels like a perfect "gift" for the summer. The genre draws inspiration from late 80s hip hop, just before the genre hit its peak popularity in the 90s. Yang Hyun Suk noted that this era also marked the beginning of his own hip hop dance career, and he confidently stated that the song is "very good."
Following promotions for the single through an MV and music program appearances, BABYMONSTER will release a mini album on October 1. The mini album will include four tracks, one of which is a slow hip hop song that both Yang Hyun Suk and the members consider their "favorite track" so far. While details about the title song have yet to be revealed, the opening track is described as a "powerful and cool" song that would serve as the "perfect opening song for a world tour."
As for TREASURE, after promoting in the US for the first time, the group is set to release a new mini album on September 1. Yang Hyun Suk shared that he had a meaningful two-hour conversation with the members about how they weren’t able to promote much last year. He added that they plan to be much more active this year, with a world tour scheduled to begin in October.
He and the TREASURE members have agreed to aim for releasing at least two mini albums or a full album each year moving forward.
Additionally, YG is preparing to debut new boy and girl groups in the coming years. Two male teams are currently in preparation: A Team, with an average age of 18, and B Team, with an average age of 15–16. One of these boy groups is expected to debut next year.
A new girl group is also in the works, consisting of four confirmed members who will be revealed one by one. Yang Hyun Suk shared that they are considering releasing solo songs for each member next year. He noted that the decision to form a four-member group was based on their "great chemistry," as he observed.
He also explained that YG has recently restructured its management approach in response to fans' concerns that "YG artists release their albums too late" in each group's career. He acknowledged that it is acceptable for different YG groups to "promote simultaneously" rather than waiting for a staggered order.
Yang Hyun Suk reflected on why he previously hesitated to debut BABYMONSTER while BLACKPINK was still actively promoting, and why he avoided overlapping TREASURE's promotions with another group’s. With this, he hinted that YG now intends to accelerate group debuts and allow multiple artists to promote at the same time.
