NCT’s Mark has officially released the music video for his solo debut title track '1999'.
The new song is a pop track filled with upbeat energy, blending grand orchestration, funky guitar riffs, brass sections, and playful whistles. Lyrically, 1999 reflects Mark’s excitement about finally launching his solo career—comparing it to being born again in the year he was actually born. It also expresses his bold ambition to become a pop icon of the century, just as he was born in the final year of the 20th century.
The music video adds a unique twist, portraying a fictional version of 1999 where the world is thrown into chaos by the infamous Y2K bug. Mark, arriving from 2025, takes on the role of a superstar saving confused citizens from misinformation—adding a layer of time-travel fantasy to his empowering solo debut.
