The popular adult BL (Boys Love) webtoon 'Painter of the Night' is being adapted into a live-action short-form drama, with rising actors Kim Kang Jae and Ji Min Seo cast in the lead roles.
A representative from the production company of Yahwacheop told SpoTV News on April 7, “Filming of 'Painter of the Night' starring Kim Kang Jae and Ji Min Seo has been completed. After finishing editing, it will be released soon.”
Based on the webtoon of the same name, 'Painter of the Night' is set in the Joseon era and tells the story of nobleman Yoon Seung Ho, who becomes captivated by the erotic illustrations of commoner Baek Na Gyeom. The original webtoon gained immense popularity not only in South Korea but also globally, becoming a major IP for Lezhin Comics. The OST "Night Flower," performed by singer Ahn Ye Eun, also drew significant attention.
In the short-form drama adaptation, Kim Kang Jae plays Yoon Seung Ho, while Ji Min Seo portrays Baek Na Gyeom. The series is directed by Choi Bo Kyung, who co-directed the drama 'The Divorce Insurance,' and it is scheduled for release through Lezhin Snack.
