‘The Art of Sarah’ has become Netflix’s newest global sensation and is truly a work of art. Written by Chu Song Yeon and directed by Kim Jin Min, the drama follows Shin Hye Sun as Sarah Kim, a woman who longs to become a luxury icon even if it means living a lie, and Mu Gyeong, portrayed by Lee Jun Hyuk, the detective who starts uncovering her ambitions. The story unfolds in the world of the elite luxury brand Boudoir, which caters to the top 0.1 percent of the wealthy.

Shin Hye Sun delivers a remarkable performance by portraying multiple identities throughout the series, seamlessly transforming into Sarah Kim, Mok Ga Hui, and Kim Eun Jae. She fully immerses herself in each persona, carefully distinguishing their personalities. Explaining her approach, she shared, “I portrayed Mok Ga Hui as rustic, Kim Eun Jae as pure and elegant, and Sarah Kim as glamorous.”
Rather than making the characters feel like simple disguises, Shin Hye Sun gives each identity a unique emotional core, allowing viewers to truly believe they are watching different people.
Sarah Kim

Sarah Kim is introduced as the regional head of the luxury brand Boudoir, a brand that sells exclusively to the top 0.1% of the ultra-rich. Elegant, influential, and seemingly untouchable, Sarah represents power, manipulation, and exclusivity in the world of high society. However, her life takes a dark turn when she becomes the victim at the center of a murder case, setting the stage for the drama’s gripping mystery. Shin Hye Sun brings Sarah to life with a glamorous presence, capturing her sophistication through subtle expressions, sharp dialogue delivery, and a calm yet confident aura.
Mok Ga Hui

In stark contrast to Sarah Kim’s elite lifestyle, Mok Ga Hui lives in financial hardship and constant uncertainty. She works as a salesperson at Samwol Department Store while struggling under the pressure of a loan shark and the weight of poverty. Despite her harsh reality, Ga Hui is highly ambitious and longs for a life filled with luxury and success. Shin Hye Sun brings a completely different energy to Ga Hui, portraying her as rustic and expressing her frustration, desperation, and determination with powerful intensity.
Dua/ Kim Eun Jae

Dua, a bar hostess struggling to survive, makes a life-changing and risky decision to donate her kidney to the rich loan shark Hong Seong Sin in return for 500 million. The deal leads her to marry him, and she begins living under a new identity as Kim Eun Jae. Shin Hye Sun brings remarkable depth to this role, portraying Kim Eun Jae as pure and elegant while capturing Dua’s vulnerability.
Taking on multiple identities in a single drama is never easy. It requires an actor to convincingly present different personalities, motivations, and emotional journeys while keeping the story cohesive, and Shin Hye Sun manages this effortlessly in ‘The Art of Sarah.’
