
The film 'No Other Choice' has become director Park Chan Wook’s highest-grossing work in North America.
According to Box Office Mojo, the film surpassed 10 million USD (approximately KRW 14.65 billion) in cumulative North American box office revenue as of February 28.
This marks a career high, surpassing his previous hit 'Oldboy' (2003), which earned 2.4 million USD in North America during its release.
CJ ENM stated, “In a market where non-English-language films face barriers to entry, this is a clear example of the global potential of Korean cinema.”
They added, “North American theaters attracted not only existing fans but also general audiences. Voluntary reviews have continued, supporting an extended run.”
'No Other Choice' is a black comedy that follows a man who, after losing his job, fights his own war of reemployment to protect his family and keep his home.
Since its global release, the film has maintained a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, receiving widespread critical acclaim. Film Threat praised it as “thrilling to the very end,” while Original Sin highlighted its “meticulous cinematography, compelling performances, and contrasting locations that create a world where reality and absurdity intersect.”
