RESCENE has solidified their global presence as a rising star with the Japanese version of ‘Pinball.’
RESCENE (Woni, Liv, Minami, May, and Zena) released the digital single ‘ピンボール (Pinball)’ on various streaming platforms at midnight on January 21st. The track has since entered both the Korean and Japanese YouTube charts, receiving enthusiastic support from listeners in both countries.
‘ピンボール (Pinball)’ ranked No. 38 on Japan’s YouTube Daily Shorts Popular Songs chart (as of February 4th) and No. 37 on Korea’s chart (as of February 8th), achieving the notable feat of simultaneously charting in both markets. In particular, the Japanese language release not only performed well in Japan but also secured meaningful results in Korea, highlighting RESCENE’s upward momentum.
Local reactions in Japan have also been noteworthy. Some radio listeners reportedly searched for the track after hearing it on air, indicating an influx of new listeners beyond the existing K pop fanbase. This suggests that RESCENE’s music is expanding into Japan’s broader mainstream pop audience.
‘ピンボール (Pinball)’ was reinterpreted by Japanese singer songwriter Nanako Ashida, who preserved the original song’s mood and message while adapting it naturally to the nuances and rhythm of the Japanese language. Ashida, who participated in writing the lyrics, saw her version covered by members Woni and Zena, further deepening the collaborative meaning. Through this creative exchange, the artists maximized each other’s strengths and elevated the track’s overall quality.
‘Pinball’ likens the unfamiliar emotions of a girl experiencing her first crush to a pinball game, expressing her clumsy yet sincere feelings. With its addictive hook and dreamy R&B atmosphere, the song captures RESCENE’s youthful and shy charm.
Meanwhile, RESCENE has continued to gain recognition. Their third mini album ‘lip bomb’ was recently included in Forbes’ list of “The Best K Pop Albums of 2025,” and the group also received the Rising Star award in the Female Idol category at the 2026 Korea First Brand Awards, further cementing their status as a promising newcomer.
