QWER’s fandom recently carried out volunteer work for abandoned animals.
According to reports, 25 members of QWER’s fandom “Bawige” visited Banryeomaru Hwaseong in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province to volunteer for abandoned dogs and cats in celebration of member Hina’s birthday on January 30.
The activity was planned under the influence of the QWER members, who have shown consistent interest in protecting abandoned animals while raising pets themselves.

The volunteers were divided into two groups, with 15 assigned to the abandoned dog team and 10 to the abandoned cat team. The dog volunteer group handled kennel cleaning, walking, and hygiene management, while the cat volunteer group assisted with organizing shelter spaces, feeding support, and environmental maintenance.
Fans who participated in the event shared, “We wanted to pass along the members’ warm hearts,” adding, “It was even more meaningful because we were able to spend time for life itself, not just for a simple birthday celebration.”
Lee Jun Hyuk, a staff coordinator at Banryeomaru Hwaseong, commented, “Korea still lacks sufficient shelters for cats. We sincerely thank the volunteers for taking time out of their busy schedules to participate.”
Team leader Choi Yeon Seok also said, “At first it felt unfamiliar to hear that an entire fandom was coming together for volunteer work, but we are grateful that everyone participated actively and created a cheerful atmosphere. I heard that the artists themselves also raise animals, so we hope they may visit and volunteer in person if the opportunity arises.”
Meanwhile, Banryeomaru Hwaseong operates as a complex cultural space that supports abandoned dog protection and adoption while allowing both pet owners and non-pet owners to gather together. As of 2025, more than 6,000 volunteers visit annually, yet many abandoned animals still remain in shelters awaiting care and adoption.
