Singer Park Yoochun, formerly of TVXQ and JYJ, shared an update from Japan.
On February 3rd KST, Park Yoochun wrote in Japanese on his Instagram, “I was able to participate again this year in the event at Takaosan Toshio Yakuoin Temple. It was an honor to meet Chief Priest Sato Hidehito. I hope everyone welcomes a 2026 filled with good fortune.”
The photos he shared show Park Yoochun wearing traditional attire while attending a Japanese temple event. Now 40 years old, he drew attention for a visual image that appears different from his earlier years promoting in Korea.
Reactions from Korean netizens included comments such as, “Japan suits him,” “He really looks Japanese,” “Japanese fans are something else, embracing all those controversies,” and “What kind of outfit is that?”
In contrast, Japanese fans left supportive messages such as, “You look wonderful,” “Good luck will surely come your way,” “I hope you have another great year,” and “Park Yoochun’s happiness is my happiness.”
Meanwhile, Park Yoochun became embroiled in a sexual misconduct controversy in 2016 and was later arrested in 2018 on charges related to methamphetamine use. The following year, he was sentenced to 10 months in prison with a two-year suspended sentence. After previously stating in a press conference that he would retire from the entertainment industry if he had used drugs, the incident led to his effective departure from the Korean entertainment scene. Since then, Park Yoochun has continued his activities in Japan.
