Comedian Park Na Rae is set to stand before a police photo line in connection with various allegations stemming from a dispute with her former managers. After largely staying out of the public eye amid the controversy, she was recently spotted outside a makgeolli brewing academy, and news of her official investigation schedule has since drawn attention for the stark contrast.
According to police on February 10, Park Na Rae will appear at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul on February 12 at 2:30 PM for questioning as a suspect. It will be her first police investigation since being sued by her former managers, and it is expected to be difficult for her to avoid the press gathered at the photo line.
Previously, Park Na Rae was sued by two former managers over so called “power abuse” allegations, including workplace harassment, proxy prescriptions, and unpaid business expenses. The former managers filed complaints in December last year on charges of defamation and violation of the Information and Communications Network Act, and also applied for a provisional seizure of real estate worth about 100 million KRW(~69,000 USD), further escalating the issue.
Park Na Rae’s side has denied all allegations and filed counter complaints against the former managers on charges of blackmail and occupational embezzlement. Police have already completed questioning of both complainants, and with Park Na Rae’s upcoming appearance, they will begin a full scale confirmation of the facts.
In particular, the investigation will also address suspicions of illegal medical practices involving an individual known as “Injection Aunt” identified as A. Park Na Rae previously explained that she believed the person to be a licensed doctor when receiving the procedure. A is said to have recently undergone about nine hours of police questioning, while authorities continue the probe through a travel ban and search and seizure measures.
Amid this situation, Park Na Rae was recently seen outside a makgeolli brewing academy, drawing public attention. While she appeared to be quietly going about her daily life after halting activities, the news of her police summons soon followed, creating a striking contrast between the “makgeolli academy sighting” and her appearance at the photo line.
Since the controversy, Park Na Rae has stepped down from regular appearances on programs such as ‘I Live Alone’ and ‘Amazing Saturday’, effectively pausing her activities. However, she is still expected to appear as scheduled in the pre produced Disney+ variety show ‘Fate War 49’.
After briefly revealing a glimpse of her everyday life at a makgeolli academy, Park Na Rae now faces an official and highly public police appearance. Attention is focused on whether this investigation and photo line moment will become a turning point in the case and how the allegations will ultimately unfold.
