A man in his 30s has received a suspended prison sentence for creating and distributing manipulated nude images using the faces of members of a popular girl group.
On February 18, Presiding Judge Kim Jung Jin of Criminal Division 8 at the Ulsan District Court sentenced the defendant, identified only as 'A,' to six months in prison, suspended for two years, on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. The court also ordered him to complete 40 hours of sexual violence treatment education.
According to the investigation, A, an office worker, used an editing application at his home in Ulsan in December 2024 to superimpose the faces of two girl group members onto nude photographs of women, producing four fabricated video files. He later shared a total of nine manipulated images, including one of the videos, in a Telegram group chat.
The court stated that “considering the nature of the crime and the act of distribution, the offense is serious, and the victims have not forgiven the defendant.” However, it added that the sentence took into account the fact that he was a first-time offender and had admitted to the charges while showing remorse.
