Following yesterday's accusations of verbal insults and overall "bad character" allegations, new rumors have surfaced surrounding ALPHA DRIVE ONE member Kim Geon Woo and an incident which occurred during the filming of KBS2's 'Idol 1N2D'.
While a floor director at MBC attested to the alleged verbal insults she experienced working with ALD1 earlier on February 13 KST, multiple other industry insiders have now come forward to "testify" about another incident.
First, according to an online community user who "verified" that they were a stylist in the entertainment industry, the so-called "Idol 1N2D incident" is already a well-known story among the insiders. They said,
"He apparently had a bad attitude even before the filming started. From what I heard, he was discontent about something during the setup stage for the filming. Then, when the filming started, the staff gave them instructions for something. Without realizing that his mic was on and so everyone could hear him, Kim Geon Woo said out loud, 'Okay what the f*** do they want us to do. They're saying a bunch of s***.' Literally everyone on the crew heard him, and they all went quiet.. I heard they completely stopped the filming for a while after that. Their managers then had to practically beg in apology. The head manager too. It got reported to the higher ups so I'm pretty certain everyone in the entertainment branch at KBS knows about it."
Another online community user who "verified" their status as an employee at SBS through the professional community 'Blind' wrote:
"1. If you asked me if this guy were good or evil, I'd say on the evil side.
2. He pretty much glowers at every person he meets. He doesn't seem to have any interest in acting with some manners in front people.
3. It's true that the broadcasting stations are unofficially 'red flagging' him. I heard this from someone else, but apparently everyone in the industry does know about the '1N2D' incident. My co-worker said that the mood was killed completely when everyone heard him swearing through his microphone. It was the kind of thing that was unheard of for rookie idols in this scene."
Still, another online user claiming to be an employee in the Entertainment Planning and Production division at MBC said,
"When you're working in Sangnam, it's not uncommon to encounter rude K-Pop idols. But this guy is the first rookie to act this bold and entitled. For weeks, he never greeted any staff. A young intern greeted the group in the elevator and he just ignored it. Far from returning the greeting in all that time that he was in the elevator, Kim Geon Woo wouldn't even help out by carrying luggage or items and stuff life that. (Younghoon from The Boyz was super good at this kind of thing, helping the interns.)"
Yet another user who identified themselves as an affiliate of an entertainment company curtly reiterated, "It was true that his mic was on."
In light of the ongoing accusations, many fans are revisiting the episode of KBS2's 'Idol 1N2D' featuring ALD1. Notably, some raised the claims that the episodes featuring ALD1 were "much shorter than typical episode with other idol guest" and that unlike other idol guests who were treated to meals paid for by the staff by the end of the filming, ALD1's 2-week episodes concluded with no celebratory meal time.
What's more is that another online user, who claimed they had been employed at the agency Bill Entertainment when Kim Geon Woo was a trainee day, has since reflected on their personal encounters with the ALD1 member as follows:
"You can choose to believe me or not, but I understand how those other people feel and why they went to such lengths to accuse him of his past misbehavior. Kim Geon Woo.. it's not necessarily that he's a rotten apple to the core. It's more like he's crafty. Should I say that he treats the people whom he considers helpful to him and people whom he considers below him very differently? Also he has this way of just being plain rude on a daily basis, I'm not sure if it comes from some kind of arrogance or what. Btw, everything that the former trainee accused him of that one time, it's all true. I always felt so bad watching that trainee (a previous bullying accuser). They used to smile all the time, but in a matter of months, they lost that smile completely.
Honestly, my experiences with Kim Geon Woo have always been something like, 'There he goes again, this cocky prick. If he acts this arrogant now, I can't imagine how full of himself he'll be once he debuts.'. But in my opinion, some of the blame falls on the adults who favored him and boosted his ego.
Really, I just want Geon Woo to know that he needs to be kinder to people. That there are countless other idols out there who are better than him. That if it weren't for the staff helping him shine, he would be nothing. All the staff at Bill Entertainment always said of him, 'He's a flower without a scent.' Obviously, it's hard to be good to every single person you meet in this business. But a bare minimum amount of manners just might make you or break you."
Many Korean netizens are currently responding to the new rumors and accusations with shock and disbelief, questioning the future of ALPHA DRIVE ONE.
