Kim Dongwan, actor and former member of Shinhwa, has once again addressed his stance following controversy over his recent comments advocating for the legalization of prostitution.
On the 24th, Kim Dongwan wrote on his social media, “I’ve been receiving a lot more calls from elders and senior colleagues since yesterday.” He continued, “Please don’t worry too much. I simply said what I wanted to say, and journalists are just doing their jobs.”
Previously, on the 18th, Kim Dongwan posted a message on his SNS stating, “In trying to eliminate red light districts, the entire country is becoming one. When you see the reality of establishments near churches, schools, and even police stations, you can’t help but question it. We need to acknowledge it and manage it.” He added, “As long as we neglect the reality of the increasing number of single person households, we cannot just brush it aside with the logic of ‘cover it up and move on,’” effectively arguing for the legalization of prostitution. The post quickly sparked heated debate.
As criticism intensified, Kim Dongwan temporarily deactivated his social media account.
