Director Jang Hang Joon’s ‘The King’s Warden’ is on the verge of surpassing 6 million moviegoers, signaling a strong push toward the coveted 10 million mark.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system on the 23rd, ‘The King’s Warden’ drew 1,414,223 viewers over the weekend of February 20 to 22, topping the weekend box office. The film, which has held the No. 1 spot for three consecutive weekends, has now accumulated a total of 5,828,901 admissions.
Although it is already in its third week since release, the film saw an increase in weekend attendance during the Lunar New Year holiday period. With daily audiences ranging between 500,000 and 600,000, its momentum remains strong. If the current trend continues, the film is expected to surpass 6 million viewers soon and race toward the 10 million milestone, potentially becoming the first 10 million film of the year.
In second place, director Ryoo Seung Wan’s ‘HUMINT’ attracted 239,371 viewers during the same period, bringing its cumulative total to 1,579,091 admissions. With positive word of mouth continuing, the film is expected to steadily draw audiences through the upcoming Independence Movement Day holiday.
‘Choir of God’ ranked third with 40,964 viewers, narrowly beating ‘Number One.’ It was followed by the horror film ‘App the Horror,’ the animated feature ‘Jumbo,’ and the romance film ‘Once We Were Us.’
