It has been 13 years since the late former A'st1 member Sung In Kyu passed away.
Sung In Kyu tragically died on February 22, 2013, after battling thymic cancer. He was 24-years-old. News of his illness was first revealed in 2011. At the time, he shared on his mini homepage, "In early April, I began experiencing severe chest pain. I kept brushing it off, thinking, 'It must be nothing,' and before I knew it, May had arrived. When I felt that my condition had worsened, I went to the hospital for a CT scan, and they discovered a tumor in my chest that had spread to the blood vessels in my neck."

He continued, "Starting in May, I underwent six rounds of chemotherapy. They said surgery was too risky. It is a rare disease, stage 2 thymic cancer. I went through emotional hardship and a great deal of stress. The hospital told me it would be best not to sing for the time being. Right now, singing leaves me short of breath and is very difficult, but I will not give up on my dream."

Despite his determination and resolve, he later passed away, drawing deep sorrow. After his passing, many K-pop stars, including artists from his former company DSP Media such as KARA and Rainbow, had shared messages of bereavement.
Sung In Kyu began his career in the entertainment industry as a child actor, appearing in the SBS drama 'Rustic Period' and KBS 2TV's 'Sharp 2.'
In 2008, he debuted in the music industry as a member of the multinational group A'st1, but the group disbanded the following year. Despite the brevity of their activity as a group, A'st1 promoted tracks like "Dynamite" and sang the OST song "Yearning of the Heart" for the hit drama, 'Boys Over Flowers'.
