Shin Jung Hwan has opened up about the truth behind the dengue fever incident that once surrounded him.
On January 14, a new video titled “Shin Jung Hwan, the icon of self-reflection who refuses to wear Moncler padding even in extreme cold” was released on the YouTube channel 'No Back Tak Jae Hoon'. During the episode, Tak Jae Hoon asked Shin about his current condition, to which Shin replied, “I’m healthy now. The fever has gone down.”
Back in 2010, Shin Jung Hwan’s dengue fever controversy stemmed from his explanation for remaining overseas during a gambling scandal. At the time, he claimed to be hospitalized in the Philippines after contracting dengue fever. The claim later drew widespread skepticism and criticism from the public.

When asked directly whether he had actually suffered from dengue fever, Shin denied it, saying, “No, I never did. A close older acquaintance suggested that idea at the time.” This statement drew attention as it contradicted long-held public perceptions of the incident.
Comedian Shin Gyu Jin then brought up photos from Shin’s past dengue fever claims, asking whether everything had been staged. Shin clarified, “It wasn’t staged. The doctors and nurses were real, and it was an actual hospital in the Philippines,” before quickly taking back the document being shown.
Through the episode, Shin Jung Hwan candidly revisited one of the most controversial moments of his career, offering clarification and self-deprecating humor as he reflected on the past.
