
'Once We Were Us,' starring Koo Kyo Hwan and Moon Ga Young, continues its strong box office run, holding onto the No. 1 spot for a third consecutive day.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticket sales system on January 14, 'Once We Were Us' drew 53,316 moviegoers on January 13 alone, maintaining its position at the top of the daily box office. The film first climbed to No. 1 on January 11 after overtaking 'Avatar: Fire and Ash,' and has remained there for three straight days.
The romantic drama also surpassed its break-even point on January 12, reaching a cumulative audience of over 1.1 million. As of January 13, the film’s total attendance stands at approximately 1.15 million admissions.
'Once We Were Us' tells the story of Eun Ho (played by Koo Kyo Hwan) and Jung Won (played by Moon Ga Young), two former lovers who unexpectedly reunite after ten years and revisit the lingering traces of their shared memories. The film has emerged as the most successful Korean melodrama released within the past three to four years, following 'Decision to Leave,' which recorded a final total of 1.91 million admissions after its release in June 2022.
Trailing behind in second place, 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' attracted 32,354 viewers on the same day, bringing its cumulative audience to 6,147,379.
'Choir of God' ranked third with 15,717 admissions, followed by 'Zootopia 2' in fourth place with 14,462 viewers. 'Even If This Love Disappears Tonight' rounded out the top five with 8,894 admissions. Their respective cumulative totals stand at 292,251, 8,343,087, and 796,958 admissions.
