Billboard Korea asked renowned American music producers Poo Bear and Andre Harris what they thought of hot 5th gen rookie boy group LNGSHOT.
In light of their visit to South Korea to celebrate Billboard Korea's birthday, the two multi-platinum producers were asked to watch and listen to a 5th gen song that's all the buzz right now - LNGSHOT's debut title track "Moonwalkin'".
After watching the MV, Poo Bear asked, "Who is that?". When the Billboard Korea staff answered that the artists were called LNGSHOT, Poo Bear remarked, "The only reason I asked, is because I like it. If didn't like it I wouldn't care who they were."
The staff then pointed out, "People say one of the LNGSHOT members sounds a lot like Justin Bieber."
Hearing this, Andre Harris replied, "It's very reminiscent and palatable. Sometimes you don't know why you like something, but here, they definitely have some sonics that sound like Justin Bieber. It's cool."
Meanwhile, rookie boy group LNGSHOT is currently garnering significant attention among K-Pop fans both in Korea and around the globe for their extremely "familiar" sounds and aesthetics. The group is made up of members Ohyul, Ryul, Woojin and Louis and is produced by Jay Park of MORE VISION. Since their official debut on January 13 with the release of their 1st mini album, 'Shot Callers', the group has stirred buzz around various topics, ranging from maknae Louis's vocals reminiscent of early career Justin Bieber, to their appropriation of Black cultural and visual aesthetics in their style and concepts, rapper Ryul's striking resemblance to Eun Ji Won of Sechskies during the peak of his idol career, and more.
