Park Yoo Chun has returned to Korea for the first time in five years.
On January 7, Park Yoo Chun posted photos on his social media with the caption, "After five years. Still, I was glad to be with Kizuna," adding, "Boss, chief manager, veteran part-time leader IN Korea."
In the released image, Park appears noticeably more gaunt than the public may remember. Dressed in a black padded jacket, jeans, and a green baseball cap pulled low, he poses beneath an illuminated “Exit” sign in a building corridor, humorously mimicking the pictogram of a running figure.
With his fists clenched as if sprinting and his eyes fixed on the camera, his expression conveys mischief rather than inner turmoil.
However, the lighthearted mood of the photo stands in stark contrast to the reality he is facing. Park Yoo Chun is currently on the losing end of a legal dispute with his former agency. In September, the Seoul High Court ruled that he had violated his exclusive contract through double contracting and ordered him to pay 500 million KRW (344,820 USD) in damages, plus accrued interest. Park has appealed the decision and is now awaiting a ruling from the Supreme Court.
Compounding the situation, it has also come to light that he has failed to pay several hundred million KRW in national taxes, effectively shutting the door on any meaningful resumption of domestic activities. Five years have passed since his tearful 2019 press conference, where he vowed to retire if drug allegations proved true—claims that were later exposed as false. Yet public trust remains firmly severed.
